Compilation of Holy Quran

When Prophet Muhammad(S.A.W) died Quran was not available in compiled form and no one
had a complete written text of it.However, when many of memorizers of quran died in battle of
Yamama Hazrat Umar considered that those who had memorized the Quran might die in the
battle and quranic verses memorized by them remained unpreserved with their death. Therefore
upon the suggestion of hazrat Umar,Hazrat Abu Bakr made the announcement regarding
compilation of quran into a single book.At first Hazrat Abu bakr became reluctant as he thought
that this was not done by Prophet(S.A.W) during his lifetime. However,Upon insistence of hazrat
umar he finally agreed. Hazrat Abu Bakr then directed Zaid Bin Sabit, Prophet’s chief scribe, to
complete this task.

Zahid Bin Sabit is reported to have said: “had I been asked to carry a mountain on my head,
it would have been a much easy task than to shoulder this responsibility.

A commission was appointed, headed by Zaid Bin Sabit. It discovered and collected the chapters
of Quran from every person who had memorized it. Zaid Bin Sabit even collected verses of the
Quran written on stones, bones and palm leaves.Yet, he was not content and verified all what
they collected from other memorizers of the Quran to ensure that the copy they made was
flawless and Allah’s word was preserved in its authentic form. The copy prepared by committe
was given to the caliph who then gave it to his predecessor, Hazrat Umar. After Hazrat Umar’s
death the copy was given to Hazrat Hafsa, a widow of the Prophet, and likewise it came to be
known as Mushaf-e-Hufsa.

During the Caliphate of Hazrat Usman, Islam expanded rapidly and many new areas were gained
as territories and Islam was accepted by many peoples in those areas. These areas had different
pronunciations and dialects. So much so that once, a commander of the Muslim army felt that
one of his soldiers was pronouncing Quran in a different dialect, which may have changed the
meaning. So he reported this to the caliph, who took serious action.  He hired the Mushaf-e-
Hufsa and told Zaid Bin Sabit and 3 other men to make a new copy that comply with dialects of
Quraish, since the Quran was revealed in that dialect. The Quran was read out loudly from the
beginning to the end in the Prophet’s mosque from these copies, so that not a shadow of doubt
remained in the mind of Muslims regarding the changes introduced. These copies were then sent
to the capital of each province with instructions that future copies must be based on them. All
other copies were then burnt.

Quran as manual of guidance

Holy Quran was sent for the guidance of whole mankind to show them the righteous path.it
contains the solution of problems that rises in every day life.As Allah has said in Quran in
following words ”And we have sent down to you the book containing all the things,a guide,a
mercy and glad tidings to Muslims” (Quran 16:89).Quran acts as manual for all ages and
nationas and a complete code of life that can get fit into every situation and occasion.Quran
provides guidance to both private and public matters and also serve as practical guide in different
political, spiritual and economics issues as well. The holy Qur’an is often termed the “living
Quran’ due to its continual usage in daily life.It also helps to improve the code of conduct for
society as in Quran strict punishments are given for person who try to harm someone’s property
which is an illegal activity. The concept of zakat given in Quran has a sole purpose and that is
not only only to help underprivileged through money but also to feel the hardship they have been
facing. Similarly the order of fasting in Quran is to make people realize about the hunger and
thirst of needy people and also it abstain a person from doing sinful acts. The concept of equality
for all irrespective of race, colour and cast all makes us good human being by caring about others
needs. Allah says in Quran “O mankind, verily We have created you from a single (Pair) of a
male and a female, and have made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other.
Verily the most honored of you in the sight of Almighty Allah is the most righteous” (Quran,
49:13).It is complete and final because no aspect of human life has been left without guidance
and nothing more is needed to supplement all that is provided by it. Other books are given for
our information but Quran is given for our transformation.
Logical proof

As far as, logical proof is concern our mind makes us to realize no matter how much knowledge
and understanding mankind holds, there re chances that they are more likely to make mistakes,
forget things or fall short. If the Quran were not the word of Allah, there would be some
contradictions and shortcomings in it, as Allah says:

Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely, have found therein many a contradiction.
[Al-Nisa 4:82 ]

But it is free from any shortcoming, error or contradiction; indeed, all of it is wisdom, mercy and
justice. Whoever thinks of any contradiction in it, that is because of his diseased thinking and
mistaken understanding; if he consult with scholar his misconception and misunderstanding
might get removed, as Allah says: Verily, those who disbelieved in the Reminder (i.e. the Quran)
when it came to them (shall receive the punishment). And verily, it is an honorable well fortified
respected Book (because it is Allah’s Speech, and He has protected it from corruption). On other
occasion Allah says:Falsehood cannot come to it from before it or behind it, (it is) sent down by
the All Wise, Worthy of all praise (Allah)”.[Fussilat 41:41-42]

Scientific proof

A number of scientific proof that we have only been able to uncover by the technology of the
20th century were stated in the Qur'an 1,400 years ago. Among the accomplishments of modern
science is the conquest of space which has resulted in man's journey to the moon. The prediction
of this event surely hits to mind when we read the chapter Al-Rahmaan in the Qur’an: “O
assembly of Jinns and men, if you can penetrate the regions of the heavens and the earth, then
penetrate them! You will not penetrate them except with authority.” (Qur’an,55:33). Authority to
travel in space can only come from the Creator of the laws which has complete authority over the
movement of galaxies in space. The whole of this Quranic chapter invites humankind to
recognize God’s beneficence.
Linguistic proof

The Quran has a unique linguistic and poetic style which remains constant throughout the book.
Unlike the Quran, all other religious scriptures which are claimed to be from God contain
inconsistencies. We can take example from prophet life when Quran was revealed by upon

prophet and When the Arabs heard the Quran's inimitable linguistic style and matchless
eloquence, it became apparent at once that this was far beyond the capability of human beings.

God states in the Quran "Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an? If it had been from [any]

other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction" (4:82).  No human being
has ever composed a book that discusses such diverse topics in a language with so much rhythm,
beauty and style.
