ISLAM: THE TRUTH EVERYONE SHOULD FOLLOW

Islam claims to be the truth, “And say, ‘Truth has come, and falsehood has departed. Indeed, is
falsehood [by nature], ever bound to depart’” (Qur’an 17:81). Is this claim true? How do we verify
this claim? This claim is not just made by Islam, other religions claim to be the truth too. How many
truths can there be? The answer is one, only one can be true as they all contradict each other. The
Qur’an also claims to actually be from Almighty God; “This is the truth from your Lord, so do not be
among those who doubt” (Qur’an 3:60).

The Qur’an doesn’t just make some claims and expect its readers to accept it as it is without coming
with something to prove its claims, as you would find scriptures like that. The first is, “And if you are
in doubt about what We have sent down (Qur’an) upon our servant (Prophet Muhammad, Peace
and Blessings Be Upon HIm), then produce a surah (chapter) the like thereof and call upon your
witnesses (supporters) other than Allah (God), if you should be truthful. But if you do not – and
you will never be able to – then fear the Fire, whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the
disbelievers” (Qur’an 2: 23 – 24). This is not just a claim but rather a challenge followed by a bold
claim (i.e., you will never be able to). To put things in context, the Qur’an was revealed in Arabic
over 1400 years ago in the Arabian Peninsula. At the time the Arabic language was at its peak, Arabic
poetry was something of great value and anyone who was a poet at the time was like a celebrity of
this time. The Arabs proud themselves in their poetry, then the Qur’an was revealed to a Messenger
that was not into poetry and couldn’t read or write. The Qur’an is the finest of Arabic literature from
the time of revelation to now, and no one since that time have been able to produce something like
literature style of Qur’an despite the proficiency of the Arabs the time of its revelation. This makes
the Qur’an a miracle, but not everyone can relate as not everyone speaks Arabic. You are welcome
to give this a try.

The second proof is, “Then do they not reflect upon the Qur’an? If it had been from other than
Allah (God), they would have found in it many inconsistency” (Surah Nisa: 82). God doesn’t make
mistakes and if something is from God therein is mistakes then this must definitely not be from God.
And this Qur’an talks about a lot of topics ranging from theology, law, legal problems, peace and war,
marriage and divorce, economics, child custody, inheritance, etc. If it was the handwork of human
then surely there would have been inconsistency and contradictions in the book. This claim is true
and there is not one single inconsistency in the Qur’an, not one. And this should not be mistaken as,
‘if any book has no inconsistency’, as a book written by a human can be written by human with no
error, but it is referring to Qur’an in relation to other religious scriptures. No religious scripture on
earth has no inconsistency or contradiction except the Qur’an. This makes the Qur’an a miracle.

The third proof is, “Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur’an and indeed We will be the one to
protect it (from corruption)” (Qur’an 15: 9). This is yet another bold claim. This is not a claim
someone who is creating falsehood would make. As he won’t be able to protect this book after he
dies. This claim is true, the Qur’an has been free from corruption or distortion. One of the ways is
keeping the revelation in his original language while transmitting it orally or when written. The
greatest way the Qur’an has been preserved is through oral transmission and memorization. Many
Muslims memorize the Qur’an since its time of revelation till now, and not just that, it is required for
a Muslim to memorize some chapters of the Qur’an as it is required to perform the daily obligatory
prayers. This help keep the Qur’an preserved. As at the moment we have millions of Muslims who
have memorized the entirety of the Qur’an. Another thing to note is that the Qur’an has no versions
(i.e., differences in the number of chapters or verses) but there are variation for ease of recitation
(i.e., different mode of recitation similar to dialects of a language) and this enriches the profound
nature of the Qur’an and all these modes were all revealed from God not human efforts.
I ask you, are you convinced the Qur’an is from God? Or you can’t relate or still need more proof? I
have more for you. The Qur’an is a gem that keeps on giving. To put things in context, remember the
Qur’an was revealed when science was in its early stage, there was little known about things we now
know through science. The first of this miracle, in no particular order, is something science recently
discovered in relation to embryology (study of the early stage of birth of human). In 1950s, the
chronological development of the human fetus was discovered through the use of ultrasound. What
does the Qur’an say about this 1400 years ago? “And certainly did We create man from an extract of
clay. Then We placed him as a sperm-drop in a firm lodging. Then We made the sperm-drop into a
clinging clot, and We made the clot into a lump [of flesh], and We made [from] the lump, bones,
and We covered the bones with flesh; then We developed him into another creation. So blessed is
Allah, the best of creators” (Quran 23:12–14). What this verse says is true scientifically, so tell how
does a desert man know this about 1400 years ago which science recently discovered. A guess? I
doubt it.

Furthermore, the Qur’an states that everything was created from water. We now know that all living
things are made of cells and that cells are made mostly of water. It wasn’t until later, after the
invention of microscopes, that it was discovered that every living thing consists mostly of water.
“…and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe?” (Quran 21:30)

If I told you the clouds you see in the sky was heavy, you most likely would object and find it
incomprehensible, “that fluffy thing in the sky?” Scientist discovered that the sky is actually very
heavy and not as light as you might think. A 1km cubed sized cloud weighs 550 tonnes which is
equivalent to 100 African elephants. The Qur’an says this, “And it is He (God) who sends the winds as
good tidings before His mercy [i.e., rainfall] until, when they have carried heavy rainclouds, We
drive them to a dead land and We send down rain therein and bring forth thereby [some] of all the
fruits. Thus will We bring forth the dead; perhaps you may be reminded.’’ (Qur’an 7: 57)

Geologists discovered that Iron is not natural to the Earth and indeed was ‘sent down’ to Earth from
the galaxy. Geologists found that the Earth was struck by meteorites billions of years ago, with Iron
descending as the earthbound byproduct of exploding stars. This is in line with what the Qur’an says,
“We have already sent Our messengers with clear evidences and sent down with them the
Scripture and the balance that the people may maintain [their affairs] in justice. And We SENT
DOWN iron, wherein is great military might and benefits for the people, and so that Allah may
make evident those who support Him and His messengers unseen. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and
Exalted in Might” (Quran 57:25). Notice the word “sent down” rather than created.

At a time when people initially thought that the moon casts its own light, the Holy Quran referenced
the fact that the light of the moon is not natural to this celestial being but rather takes the form of
reflected light — a fact which scientists confirmed to be true. “Blessed is He who has placed in the
sky great stars and placed therein a [burning] lamp and luminous moon” (Quran 25:61)

The Qur’an is a miracle that could have come only from God, this fact owing to the Prophecies
mentioned in the Holy Book that have since come true. Amongst the other accurate futuristic
predictions made in the Holy Quran is the victory of the Byzantine Empire. In the early 7th century,
the two great empires ruling at the time were the Byzantine and Persian empires. During the war, the
Byzantines suffered a severe defeat in their war against the Persians. The Holy Quran states that
while the Byzantines did indeed experience an initial defeat, they soon would enjoy an exalted victory
that no one could have predicted. The Byzantines had experienced a crushing defeat that seemed at
the time to have doomed the Empire — but their fate was destined to change. God the Almighty
states: “The Byzantines have been defeated. In the nearest land. But they, after their defeat, will
overcome. Within three to nine years. To Allah belongs the command before and after. And that
day the believers will rejoice. In the victory of Allah. He gives victory to whom He wills, and He is
the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.” (Quran 30:2–5).

We all know Pharaoh who drowned in the sea. In the early 70s, his corpse was examined; the
discovery made through the investigation of his mummy that he died from the infiltration of water
into his lung — thus providing conclusive proof of his drowning death. It also was proven that he lived
at the time of Prophet Moses peace be upon him. God preserved his body forever as a sign and lesson
for humanity, and now his body tours the world for everyone to see.
“So today We will save you in body that you may be to those who succeed you a sign. And indeed,
many among the people, of Our signs, are heedless” (Quran 10:92)

There are so many more proofs that Indeed the Qur’an is from God and not the work of men. How
many more proofs do you need? If anyone above doesn’t convince you, I doubt any other proofs can
convince you. Islam is the truth and everyone should follow it. I challenge you to bring me any proof
that disproves the Qur’an’s claims. And I challenge you to bring any religious scripture that is free
from contradictions and inconsistency, bring me a scripture that is every single statement in it is the
direct word of God. Let me save you the trouble, you won’t find any except the Qur’an. If you are
convinced this Qur’an is from God you should accept Islam, for indeed the only acceptable religion is
Islam. ‘’Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah (God) is Islam. And those who were given the
Scripture did not differ except after knowledge had come to them – out of jealous animosity
between themselves. And whoever disbelieves in the verses of Allah (God), then indeed, Allah
(God) is swift in [taking] account. (Qur’an 3:19).’’

I invite you to Islam, the true religion of God. Accepting is up to you, there is no compulsion. I will
advice you to read the English Translated Qur’an. Read it with open mind, and I promise you, if you
are sincere, it will be the best book you have ever read. The Qur’an is very clear to understand its
message. It speaks to everyone. It makes you reflect. This is a book that appeals to the intellect. The
Qur’an is a guidance for all mankind; “The month of Ramadan [is that] in which was revealed the
Qur’an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion (for good and evil).”
(Qur’an 2: 185). Take this guidance and be among the successful.

“And there is no doubt that it is a mighty scripture (Qur’an). Falsehood can reach it neither from in
front of it nor from behind. It is a revelation from a Wise and Glorious God.” (Qur’an 41:41-42)

“And We have revealed the Book (Qur’an) to you explaining clearly everything.” (Qur’an 16: 89)
