From the Director
100 St. Patricks’ Days
It is a pleasure to present the 11th Belgrade
Irish Festival during the period when Ireland
traditionally basks in a global blaze of green.
Much of the fanfare is due to a widely scattered
but active Irish diaspora, providing us with an
opportunity to experience the best of Irish arts,
culture and heritage. A small island on the
eastern edge of the Atlantic, Ireland has its
feet firmly planted on the world stage. This
year we mark three milestones: 100 years
membership of the United Nations (joining
the then League of Nations (1923) as a newly
independent country); 50 years membership
of the European Union (joining the then EEC,
1973); and, the 25th anniversary of the Good
Friday Agreement (1998) bringing peace to
the island.
Our Belgrade Irish Festival programme is
a multi-disciplinary portrait of diversity
including, for instance, an exploration of the
life of Lyra (McKee), the extraordinarily brave
Irish journalist and “ceasefire baby” who

was gunned down in Derry in 2019. Nothing
Compares brings us face to face with the
prescience and mesmerizing voice of Sinéad
O’Connor, while the extraordinary The Quiet
Girl represents the first ever Irish language
film nominated (and currently in contention)
for an Oscar.
The renowned Serbian twin brothers
Teofilović and The Quiet Men is a rare and
not to miss opportunity to experience live
a cappella from around the Balkans and our
Celtic Islands in Belgrade.
There are many other facets of Ireland to
explore in the following pages and we invite
you to join us to celebrate the return of Spring
between March 10th and 19th.
Lastly, I am very grateful to our valued partners

the BIF team and volunteers who collectively
make this festival possible. A sincere thank

On behalf of the Embassy of Ireland, I am
proud to support the Belgrade Irish Festival
in its 11th year!
It is a privilege for the Embassy to be involved
in a festival that has done so much to bring
the people of Ireland and Serbia together
through Irish culture and art.

bringing the best of Irish culture and friendli-
ness to Belgrade.
The European Union Delegation is proud to
have accompanied its journey into a well-
recognised international Irish festival so
appreciated in Belgrade, and far beyond.
Through music, theatre, films, literature,
painting and sport, each year BIF has exposed
us to the diversity of such a rich Celtic culture.
That is the diversity Europe cherishes and

No special introduction is necessary for the
lovely Serbian a cappella duo, twins Ratko
and Radiša. Widely known for their vocal
interpretation of the traditional poetic and
musical legacy of the Balkan region, Teofilovic
Brothers have always insisted on authenticity
which became their professional musical
signature and placed them in a unique position
in the musical landscape.
They have been re-discovering the rich
traditional heritage of the Balkan peninsula
for many decades now, performing songs
which stayed popular over time as well as
those long forgotten. Join us for their 30-year
anniversary concert which will be performed
in collaboration with many music greats from
the region and from abroad, including our
Irish music guests John McGlynn and Richard
Boyle as The Quiet Men.

divni srpski akapela duo, braću Ratka i Radišu
Teofilović. Opšte poznati po svom vokalnom
tumačenju tradicionalnog poetskog i muzičkog
nasleđa balkanskog regiona, Braća Teofilović
uvek su insistirali na autentičnosti koja je
postala njihov profesionalni muzički potpis i
postavila ih na jedinstveno mesto u
muzičkom pejzažu.
Oni nanovo otkrivaju bogato tradicionalno
nasleđe Balkanskog poluostrva već mnogo
decenija unazad, izvodeći pesme koje su
ostale popularne kroz vreme kao i one koje su
odavno zaboravljene. Pridružite nam se na
njihovom prvom koncertu u Beogradu nakon
četiri godine pauze a povodom trideseto-
godišnjice postojanja. Koncert će biti održan
u saradnji sa mnogim muzičkim velikanima iz
regiona i iz inostranstva, uključujući naše

The Quiet Men
With Brothers Teofilovic Tickets.rs
We are delighted to welcome The Quiet Men
to this year’s BIF for what promises to be a
unique evening of Irish and Balkan a capella
music. John McGlynn and Richard Boyle will
share a stage with the Brothers Teofilovic for
the first time with a set of songs that has never
been performed live before. McGlynn and Boyle
have been performing together since 1992. As
members of world renowned vocal ensemble
Anúna they have recorded many of the 22
albums released by the group and collaborated
with artists such as Sting, Sinéad O’Connor,
Elvis Costello, and many celebrities in the
audience, like George Clooney, Penélope Cruz,
Coldplay, and Bono. Throughout their careers,
The Quiet Men has been the corner-stone for
their shared love of Irish folk, traditional and
Sean Nós singing. From the complex puirt a
baol (mouth music) songs, to Paddy Kavanagh’s
sublime On Raglan Road, across the vocal
landscape of some old Irish airs like She
Moved Through the Fair, or The Rocky Road
to Dublin, they continue to perform songs
that embody their deep love of their home.

The Quiet Men
Zadovoljstvo nam je da predstavimo The Quiet
Men na ovogodišnjem BIF-u, s koncertom koji
obećava da bude jedinstveno veče irske i balkan-
ske a kapela muzike. Džon MekGlin i Ričard Bojl
će po prvi put deliti pozornicu sa Braćom
Teofilović sa nizom pesama koje nikada ranije
nisu izvedene uživo. McGlin i Bojl nastupaju
zajedno još od 1992 godine. Kao članovi svetski
poznatog vokalnog ansambla Anúna snimili su
mnoge od njihovih 22 albuma i saradjivali sa
umetnicima kao što su Sting, Šinejd O ‘Konor,
Elvis Kostelo, i imali mnoge u publici poput
Džordža Klunija, Penelope Kruz, Coldplay i
Bona. Tokom njihovih karijera, The Quiet Men
su bili temelj njihove zajedničke ljubavi
prema irskom narodnom, tradicional-nom i
Sean Nós pevanju. Od kompleksnih pesama

Everything Shook

Everything Shook is an all-female electronic
band from Ireland featuring Robyn Bromfield,
Jessica Kennedy, and Áine Stapleton. Their
music incorporates dark, hypnotic melodies
and layered vocals that provoke an atmos-
phere of playful unease.
The trio return to play BIF following their
Balkan tour in December 2022, and will launch
their second album at the National Concert
Hall, Dublin, later in March. Their live shows
are injected with mechanical choreographies,
performed by the band, that intensify the
hallucinatory rhythms dictated by synths,
drum machine, and bass guitar. Nialler 9, an
Irish music blog, called their music “a horror
soundtrack for modern living”.

Everything Shook je ženski elektronski bend iz
Irske koji čine Robin Bromfild, Džesika Kenedi
i Anja Stejpelton. Njihova muzika spaja tamne,
hipnotičke melodije i slojevite vokale koji izazi-
vaju atmosferu razigrane nelagode.
Trio se vraća da učestvuje na BIF-u posle svoje
balkanske turneje u decembru 2022. godine,
a njihov drugi album će biti predstavljen u
Nacionalnoj koncertnoj sali u Dablinu, krajem
marta. Njihove žive svirke su dopunjene meha-
ničkim koreografijama koje same izvode a čime
pojačavaju halucinirajuće ritmove koje diktiraju
sintisajzeri, bubanj-mašina i bas gitara. Nialler
9, irski muzički blog, nazvao je njihovu muziku
“horor soundtrack za moderan život”.

The Hollow of
the Hand

The Hollow of the Hand is a unique collabo-
ration between Seamus Murphy and PJ Harvey.
Harvey’s poetry is combined with Murphy’s
photographs taken over two decades and
with work created on their trips to Kosovo,
Afghanistan, and Washington DC. Murphy
published their creative partnership in the
form of a book The Hollow of the Hand in
2015 while PJ Harvey developed her impre-
ssions further into her ninth studio album
The Hope Six Demolition Project, released
in 2016.
This exhibition is a particular insight into
concepts and creative processes of these
two artists and is sure to be thought-provoking.
The lines between reality and art are called to
attention here with regards to human existence
in areas of conflict and everyday survival.

Praznina ruke je jedinstvena saradnja između
Šejmusa Marfija i PJ Harvi. Poezija Harvijeve je
kombinovana sa Marfijevim fotografijama
napravljenim tokom dve decenije i sa njihovim
radom tokom putovanja na Kosovo, Avganistan
i Vašington DC. Marfi je objavio ovo kreativno
partnerstvo u obliku knjige The Hollow of the
Hand 2015. godine, dok je PJ Harvi dalje razvila
svoje utiske u deveti studijski album The
Hope Six Demolition Project, objavljenom
2016. godine.
Ova izložba je poseban uvid u koncepte i
kreativne procese ova dva umetnika i sigurno
će biti provokativna. Linije između stvarnosti
i umetnosti su ovde u centru pažnje u smislu
ljudskog postojanja u područjima sukoba i
u okvirima svakodnevnog opstanka.
Seamus Murphy is a photographer, filmmaker,
author. His work has been published and
exhibited world-wide with much attention and
merit from the critics and his peers, especially
for his photographic documentation of life in
regions of conflict. His photography books
Darkness Visible: Afghanistan and I Am the
Beggar of the World (which also contains
forbidden Landay poetry) are award-winning
works. His music film The Words that Maketh
Murder fellow artist Patti Smith put as one of
her top ten artworks, saying:
“... this unheralded piece is a wisp
of humanity celebrating the small
things.”
At this year’s Belgrade Irish Festival, Seamus
Murphy will present and talk about his colla-
boration with PJ Harvey, and how their lasting
artistic bond, similar sensibilities, and appreci-
ation of the unfamiliar brought The Hollow of
the Hand and A Dog Called Money to life.

Šejmus Marfi je fotograf, režiser, autor. Njegova
dela su objavljivana i izlagana širom sveta uz
veliku pažnju i validaciju kritičara i njegovih
savremenika, posebno za dokumentarnu foto-
grafiju o životu u regionima konflikta. Njegove
knjige fotografija Vidljiva tama: Avganistan i
Ja sam prosjak sveta (koja sadrži zabranjenu
Landay poeziju) su osvojile mnoge nagrade.
Njegov muzički film Reči koje čine
ubistvo, umetnica Pati Smit je stavila
kao jedno od svojih deset najboljih
umetničkih dela, rekavši:
“... ovaj nedovoljno nahvaljen
komad je delić čovečanstva koji
slavi male stvari”.
Na ovogodišnjem Beogradskom irskom festivalu
Šejmus Marfi će predstaviti i govoriti o svojoj
saradnji sa PJ Harvi, i kako je njihova dugotrajna
umetnička povezanost, uz sličan senzibilitet i
uvažavanje nepoznatog, rezultirala knjigom
Praznina ruke i filmom Pas po imenu Novac.

of Belgrade
Illumination/BIF Map
Once again, the green hue of St. Patrick will
illuminate the most prominent landmarks
around Belgrade’s city center, framing our
solidarity with Ireland and Irish culture on their
national day. On March 17 many locations
worldwide commemorate this holiday and
lights can be observed and enjoyed from the
Sydney Opera House in Australia down under,
to the Great Wall of China in the east, and all
the way to the City of New York in the west.
The global appreciation of this primary patron
saint of Ireland has become an event for
people to enjoy and join in many things Irish
culture has to offer always ending in some
good craic and new friendships. And a pint
or two of Guinness!

Beograda
Još jednom će zelena boja Sv. Patrika obasjati
najistaknutije znamenitosti u centru Beograda,
uramljujući našu solidarnost sa Irskom i
irskom kulturom na njihov nacionalni dan. 17.
marta svake godine mnogo lokacija širom
sveta obeležava ovaj praznik i svetla se mogu
videti od Sidnejske opere u Australiji, dole
južno, do Velikog kineskog zida na istoku, pa
sve do Njujorka na zapadu.
Ovaj dan glavnog zaštitnik Irske je postao
popularan globalni događaj u kojem ljudi
uživaju i učestvuju u mnogim stvarima koje
irska kultura može da ponudi, a uvek se
završi nekom dobrom zabavom i novim

Blue Sandbar
Moon
A poetry reading with Chris Agee Čitanje poezije sa Krisom Agijem
This year we begin St Patrick’s Day with our
traditional breakfast and literary conversation
with Chris Agee, and the reading of his fourth
collection of poetry titled Blue Sandbar Moon.
Published in 2018, this collection consists of
174 poems inspired by his experience and
observation of life, exploring with delicate
precision the emotional and spiritual landscape
of continual state of living in “the aftermath
of aftermath”, presenting a holistic, searching
vision of worlds in motion.
A number of poems are directly connected
to his time spent on the Croatian island of
Korčula where he resides when not in Belfast.

Plavi mesec nad
peščanim sprudom
Ove godine Dan Sv. Patrika počinjemo
tradicionalnim doručkom i književnim
razgovorom sa Krisom Agijem i čitanjem
njegove četvrte zbirke poezije pod nazivom
Plavi mesec nad peščanim sprudom.
Ova kolekcija, objavljena 2018. godine, sastoji
se od 174 pesme inspirisane njegovim
iskustvom i posmatranjem života koje sa
delikatnom preciznošću istražuje emotivni i
duhovni pejzaž kontinuiranog stanja življenja
u „posledicama posledica“, predstavljajući
holističku, tragačku viziju svetova u pokretu.
Jedan deo pesama direktno je povezan sa
njegovim boravkom na hrvatskom ostrvu
Korčula, gde živi kada nije u Belfastu.

Invisible Woman
and Other Stories
Jacob Agee in conversation
with Slavenka Drakulić sa Slavenkom Drakulić
On the second day of our literary talks this
year we will host Jacob Agee as one of the
two translators of a short prose collection
Invisible Woman and Other Stories by a
prominent Croatian female author Slavenka
Drakulić. We are delighted to have Slavenka
join us for this conversation via Zoom, along
with the novelist Igor Štiks as the moderator.
As a poet and essayist himself, we will learn
about Agee’s interest in translating this book-
length work (in collaboration with Christina
Pribichevich Zorić) about aging, family ties,
and other relevant questions from a woman’s
perspective, and what fascinates him in
bridging the experiences between Ireland
and Croatia by transferring certain literary
works from Croatian into English language
(he is currently working on translating Ivan
Goran Kovačić’s long poem on genocide
within Yugoslavia during WW II, called Jama).

Džejkob Agi razgovara
Drugog dana književnih razgovora ove godine
gost nam je Džejkob Agi, jedan od dva prevo-
dioca zbirke Nevidljiva žena i druge priče
istaknute hrvatske autorke Slavenke Drakulić.
Sa radošću najavljujemo da će se Slavenka
pridružiti ovom razgovoru preko Zoom-a,
zajedno sa piscem Igorom Štiksom kao
moderatorom.
S obzirom da je pesnik i esejista, saznaćemo
šta je Agija zainteresovalo da prevede ovu
knjigu kratke proze (u saradnji sa Kristinom
Pribichevich Zorić) o starenju, porodičnim
odnosima i drugim relevantnim pitanjima
iz ženske perspektive, i šta ga fascinira u
premošćavanju iskustava između Irske i
Hrvatske prevođenjem određenih književnih
dela sa hrvatskog na engleski jezik (trenutno
radi na prevodu duge pesme Ivana Gorana
Kovačića o genocidu unutar Jugoslavije tokom
Drugog svetskog rata, pod nazivom Jama).

The Quiet Girl

2022 • 94 min • Drama
The Quiet Girl takes us back to 1981 rural
Ireland where we experience a summer of
transformation, family values, grief, and most
of all love through the eyes of a quiet nine-
year old Cáit. At first withdrawn and skeptical,
Cáit gradually learns to trust the new landscape
she finds herself in and starts to become
aware of things she does not have in her own
blood family.
This delicate human story about childhood,
parenting, loss, and rebuilding a family, along
with some amazing cinematography, gently
offers an insight into traditions of Irish families,
underlining what ultimately are its most
important values.
A winner of numerous film awards in 2022,
it is the first film in Irish language to be
nominated for the Best International Feature
Film Academy Award (results out on March 13).

Film Tiha devojčica nas vraća u seosku Irsku
iz 1981. godine gde posmatramo jedno leto
transformacije, porodičnih vrednosti, tuge, i
najviše od svega ljubavi kroz oči tihe deveto-
godišnje Ket. U početku povučena i skeptična,
Ket postepeno uči da veruje u novi pejzaž u
kome se nalazi i počinje da postaje svesna
stvari koje nema u svojoj porodici.
Ova delikatna ljudska priča o detinjstvu,
roditeljstvu, gubitku i obnovi porodice,
zajedno sa neverovatnom sinematografijom,
nežno nudi uvid u tradiciju irske porodice,
naglašavajući šta su na kraju njene
najvažnije vrednosti.
Nosilac brojnih filmskih nagrada iz 2022.,
Tiha devojčica je prvi film na irskom jeziku
koji je nominovan za Oskara u kategoriji
Najboljeg međunarodnog filma (dodela je
13. marta).

A Dog Called
Money
Artists: PJ Harvey, Seamus Murphy • Director: Seamus Murphy
2019 • 90 min • Music Documentary
A Dog Called Money comes as a result of
years-long collaboration between PJ Harvey
and Seamus Murphy, and it records their trips
to Afghanistan, Kosovo, and Washington DC,
where they observe people, their behavior, and
their everyday life as it comes. In Washington
DC, in a once marginalized, predominantly
black neighbourhood, they meet a young black
girl Paunie who has a dog called Money, whose
name becomes the film title.
Harvey’s words morph into poems and music,
and her 9th studio album (recorded in an
experimental setting) while Murphy follows
his multimedia vision into creating this film,
a book, and then photography exhibition
entitled The Hollow of the Hand.
March 11 screening is preceded by an
opening ceremony and Q&A with the director
Seamus Murphy afterwards. Check out The

Novac
Pas po imenu Novac dolazi kao rezultat dugo-
godišnje saradnje između PJ Harvi i Šejmusa
Marfija, i beleži njihova putovanja u Avganistan,
Kosovo i Vašington DC, gde posmatraju ljude,
njihovo ponašanje i njihov svakodnevni život.
U Vašingtonu, u jednom marginalizovanom,
uglavnom crnom kraju, upoznaju mladu
crnkinju Pjuni koja ima psa po imenu Novac
pa njegovo ime postaje i naslov filma.
Reči koje beleži PJ Harvi se pretvaraju u pesme
i muziku i njen deveti studio album (snimljen u
eksperimentalnom okruženju) dok je Marfi prati
svoju multimedijsku viziju i stvara ovaj film, pa
knjigu, a zatim i izložbu fotografija pod nazivom
Praznina ruke.

Nothing compares…to Sinéad O’Connor. As
a protest singer not really looking for fame,
Sinéad took the global spotlight (and was
singled out and shun for it) after her appear-
ance on an SNL episode in 1992 where
she tore up a picture of Pope John Paul II.
As a loud advocate against the cover up
of sexual abuse cases within the Catholic
Church, her actions occurred nine years
before the Pope admitted to them.
Sinéad remains an icon which inspires and
questions the lines between art and activism.
Through the guiding lens of Kathryn Ferguson,
we are reminded of her undoubtable music
talent, her top-of-the-charts cover of Prince’s
song Nothing Compares to You, but also of her
passion to stand up for what she believes in.

Preceding the screening of Setanta: A State
of Independence, this year we present the
audio cinema experience through a radio
drama, Digging for Fire, video projection, and
commentary from our guests – Daragh Dukes,
Eoin O’Kelly, and Kevin Brew – to further explore
the nature of youthful creativity and music
ambitions of the 1990s Limerick band scene.
Formerly of the bands They Do It With Mirrors
and The Hitchers (who recorded with Setanta
Record Label), here they re-visit the tragi-
comedy of their London years and obsessive
quest of adolescent dreams. Unfortunately,
their international breakthrough never comes,
and now, with the distance of some 30 years,
as successful media makers, they trace their
musical past through the touching, funny,
lively stories of dreaming, failing and getting
up again.

Pre projekcije filma Setanta: Stanje nezavi-
snosti, ove godine predstavljamo i audio-
vizuelno iskustvo kroz radio-dramu, Digging
for Fire, video projekciju i komentare naših
gostiju – Dare Duks, Ajena O’Kelija i Kevina
Brua – kako bismo dodatno istražili prirodu
mladalačke kreativnosti i muzičkih ambicija
bendova iz Limerika 1990tih godina.
Prvobitno u bendovima They Do It With Mirrors

Setanta: A State of
Independence

After the audio cinema experience Digging
for Fire, take a deeper look into the making
of Setanta, one of the liveliest indie record
companies in Britain in 1980s. In 1985 Keith
Cullen left Dublin for London, worked hard
for the next three years in order to get Setanta
off the ground. From a run-down housing
estate, living as squatters, Cullen has been
taking Irish musical talents and exporting
them to the rest of the world.
This film, in the form of interviews with artists
like The Frank and Walters, Edwyn Collins,
music contributors, and music journalists,
documents a genuine success story of a truly
independent record company which tried
to preserve the passion and authenticity
of music-making endeavors.
Digging for Fire artists were signed
with record label Setanta and will be in
attendance after the screening.

indie izdavačkih kuća u Britaniji osamdesetih
godina. 1985. Kit Kalen je napustio Dablin
i otišao u London, naporno radeći naredne
tri godine da bi pokrenuo Setantu, svoju
muzičku izdavačku kuću. Sa porušenog
stambenog imanja, gde su živeli bespravno,

Filmmakers McGrath and Ní Chianáin go to
one of the toughest neighborhoods in Belfast
to explore the glimpses of free thought and
hope inside Holy Cross Boys School. The
community of Ardoyne did not benefit from
any significant “peace money” after the 1998
treaty and its marginalized working class has
been plagued by poverty, drugs, and guns for
generations. But the maverick headmaster
Kevin McArevey, believing in philosophy and
critical thinking, along with his dedicated
staff, was determined to make a difference.
We learn how philosophic inquiry can
encourage children to question the notions
of war and violence, challenge the narratives
of their parents and grandparents, and reach
beyond the boundaries and limitations of
their own community.

Dokumentarni stvaraoci MekGrat i Ni Šinan
odlaze u jedan od najopasnijih kvartova u
Belfastu da istraže iskre slobodnog razmišljanja

Zajednica Ardojn nije imala koristi od značajnog
„mirovnog novca“ posle sporazuma iz 1998.

Lyra (Leer-rah)

Lyra McKee was shot dead by the New IRA
in April 2019 while observing a riot in Derry
(Londonderry) in Northern Ireland. Killed by a
single bullet, she left behind her loved ones
to question the reality of political ideology in
this country. She and her generation were
known as the ‘Ceasefire Babies’, a term she
coined and later challenged while investi-
gating inter-generational trauma and the
aftermath of conflict.
With this film, director Alison Millar, Lyra’s
close friend, commemorates Lyra’s spirit
and activism, seeking answers to her
senseless death.

Lira MekKi je ubijena od strane Nove IRA u
aprilu 2019. dok je posmatrala nerede u Deriju
(Londonderi) u Severnoj Irskoj. Ubijena
jednim metkom, ostavila je svoje voljene da
ispituju stvarnost političke ideologije u ovoj
zemlji. Ona i njena generacija bili su poznati
kao Bebe primirja, termin koji je sama izmislila
i kasnije preispitivala istražujući međugenera-
cijsku traumu i posledice sukoba.
Ovim filmom režiserka Alison Milar, Lirina bliska
prijateljica, obeležava Lirin duh i aktivizam,
tražeći odgovore za njenu besmislenu smrt.

Horrible Creature Strašno stvorenje

In 1915, James Joyce and Nora Barnacle
travelled to Switzerland with their young
children Giorgio and Lucia to escape the
turmoil of the WW I. Lucia later trained as a
dancer and performed throughout Europe.
In the early 1930s her career ended suddenly
as she was forced into psychiatric care and
underwent experimental treatments at
various hospitals across Europe.
Stapleton’s Horrible Creature, called ‘a
stunning visual experience’, is the second
in a trilogy of films revolving around Joyce.
Filmed in Switzerland where Lucia spent
time, this documentary presents her writing
interpreted by a cast of international dance
artists, bringing forth her world between
1915 and 1950. The film fearlessly explores
her difficult family life, her unproven illness
and her undoubted talent.
Screening on March 12 is followed by Q&A
with the director Áine Stapleton. She is also
performing with Everything Shook (page 13).

100 Years of Ulysses 100 godina Uliksa

After more than a century now, Joyce’s
Ulysses still fascinates its audience and
critics. Published on February 2nd, 1922,
Ulysses was initially banned in the US and
Britain for its shocking qualities, but soon
became recognized as a groundbreaking
masterpiece of unprecedented literary value.
Since then it has inspired countless artists
like Eileen Grey, Man Ray, even Bob Dylan.
In 100 Years of Ulysses, Frank Callanan, a
distinguished historian and Joyce scholar, and
director Ruán Magan set out to unravel this
fascination through engaging interviews.
The book that took seven years of Joyce’s life
continues to spark conversations and theories
in academic and public circles thus proving to
be one of those timeless pieces of literature.

fascinira publiku i kritičare. Objavljen 2. februara

delo nezabeležene književne vrednosti. Od

expression of resistance and stamina are
easily recognised in the traditional Irish
dance. Today, this type of dance is widely
popular across the world thanks to its
particular qualities. In this documentary, we
follow the story of Irish dancing changing
through history influenced by the evolving
domestic events but also by the cultural
interaction with surrounding continents.
From the stories of Irish diaspora preserving
their roots (like Gene Kelly in Singing in the
Rain), to breaking racial and national barriers
(like Morgan Bullock dancing her Riverdance
as the first African-American member), to
social media frenzy of our current times, the
power of Irish dance is not stepping down.

lako se prepoznaje u tradicionalnom irskom
plesu. Danas je ova vrsta plesa popularna širom
sveta zahvaljujući svojim posebnim kvalitetima.

o irskom plesu koji se menja kroz istoriju pod

Risteard O’Domhnaill delivers his second
award-winning documentary exploring the
manipulation of ocean resources. Through
the lives of three fishermen in three coastal
communities we see the conservational
impact of fishing and oil industries in the
North Atlantic, but also efforts to preserve
traditional way of life despite the political
aspects of overexploitation. Narrated by
the amazing Brendan Gleeson and set
against the background of beautiful coastal
landscapes, Atlantic is well deserving of its
audience’s attention.

The Pipe/Cev

When a petrochemical, oil giant Shell attacks
a small village on the west coast of Ireland,
planning to dig and install a high-pressure
pipe right through their land and fishing
areas, threatening their livelihood, the ordinary
folk has to stand up in protest and fight for
their rights. Director Risteard O’Domhnaill
records every step of their struggle keeping
these issues at the core of global environ-
mental discussions and concerns.
We are happy to have Bojan Simišić from
Eko Straža join the director of The Pipe for a
conversation on past and present ecological
issues in both Ireland and Serbia.
Kada petrohemijski naftni gigant Shell
napadne malo selo na zapadnoj obali Irske
planirajući da kopa i instalira cev visokog
pritiska pravo kroz njihovu zemlju i ribolovna
