Requirements Check List for Local Applicants

1. Application Form with passport size photo (3.5cm X 4.5cm) with white background. Click to

2. Consent Form. Please download, print, and sign the Consent Form. The full text of the consent
form can be found at this LINK.

3. Original Copy of Transcript of Records with Date of Graduation (for those who studied in the
Philippines) or Philippine Embassy authenticated/apostilled original copies of Transcript of
Records (for those who studied outside the Philippines). View provision issued by the Philippine
Department of Education through
this LINK.
During the application period, scanned copies of the following documents may be uploaded
in lieu of the Original Copy of Transcript of Records with Date of graduation:
• Incomplete Transcript
• Certificate of Candidacy to Graduate OR Certificate of Expected Date of Graduation
(NOTE: Graduate admissions need proof that applicants have earned or are about to earn their
bachelor’s degree when applying to the diploma and/or master’s program. Same principle
applies when one is applying for a PhD.)

4. Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) or Grade Weighted Average (GWA) as certified by the
school registrar (if neither is displayed on the academic transcript) when applying to the School
of Law and/or any program under the RVR – College of Business.
(NOTE: For purposes of evaluation to the School of Law only, the latest available CGPA or
GWA of the applicants will do, particularly if the applicant has not yet received their
diploma or has graduated as of the time of application. The overall college GWA will be
made a hard requirement during confirmation should one qualifies for admission and
enrolls in the University.)

6. Photocopy of NSO/PSA Certificate of Marriage, for female applicants who changed
their names after marriage

7. Transfer Credentials or Honorable Dismissal.
.
The “Transfer Credentials” (formerly referred to as “Honorable Dismissal”) is a
document certifying that a student has no pending accountabilities with a school
and is eligible for transfer to another educational institution, or for admission into
another degree program in the same educational institution.
.
As such, the Transfer Credentials is a permanent termination of studies at De La
Salle University-Manila or in a degree program at DLSU.

7.1. If the university does not issue a Transfer Credential/Honorable


Dismissal, a Certificate of Non-Issuance of Transfer Credentials will be
required.
7.2. For DLSU – Manila graduates, as an internal policy, processing of
transfer credential (TC) form is required for a DLSU student who
recently graduated and seeks admission to a new degree program in
DLSU. Such document shall form part of the documentary
requirements for admission and official student records of the student
to be admitted to a new degree program in the University.
7.3. For applicants who earned a college or postgraduate degree
outside the Philippines, submission of a Photocopy of Diploma or
Original Copy of Certificate of Graduation indicating name of degree
and date of graduation is allowed.
The original copy of the Transfer Credentials will be made a hard
requirement during confirmation should one qualifies for admission and
enrolls in the University.

8. Two (2) Letters of Recommendation (pdf/101kb). An employed applicant may


secure a letter of recommendation from his/her current employer, immediate head
or his/her own respective Human Resource Department or its equivalent.
Letters of Recommendation may also be obtained from former/current advisers or
professors.

Important Note: The recommendation forms will be directly provided by the


Recommender/Rater to the Office of Admissions and Scholarships through

presenting a TOEFL/IELTS score..

11. Photocopy of research output for doctorate applicants
11.1. If you are applying to any of the following programs (i.e., DBA,
PhD in Literature, PhD in Psychology, PhD in Political Science, and PhD
in Research), scroll down to “Additional program – specific
requirements” for more information.
11.2. If you are applying to other PhD programs not mentioned in 11.1,
copies of the following may be acceptable as research output: (1)
thesis abstract and/or (2) journal articles (published/unpublished). For

12. For Transfer Applicants, submission of the following academic transcripts is
required: (1) original, incomplete transcript from last school attended and (2)
original or certified true copy of one’s undergraduate transcript if applying as a
master’s/School of Law student OR original or certified true copy of MA transcript if
applying as a doctoral student.

Additional program – specific requirements

Colleges

1. School of Law

- Academic Transcript with Cumulative GPA (CGPA). For applicants whose CGPA
is not printed on academic transcripts, you may approach and secure a copy
of your CGPA from the school Registrar or any other official that can certify
grades (e.g., dean, college secretary, etc.)

Academic Transcript with CGPA will also be collected from applicants who may
have earned a 2nd or 3rd Undergraduate (UG) Degree, post UG Degree (MA, MS,
PhD), previous JD, UG from a foreign school, etc.

If one is applying for transfer, the following transcripts will be required: (1)
College Transcript with CGPA and (2) Unfinished Law Transcript with CGPA.

For purposes of evaluation, the latest available CGPA or GWA of the applicants
will do, particularly if the applicant has not yet received their diploma or has
graduated as of the time of application. The overall college GWA will be made
a hard requirement should one qualifies for admission and enrolls in the
University.
- Applicants who wish to transfer to the DLSU School of Law will be allowed on
the condition that they will be classified as new students since the program
requires a fresh start in law education. Moreover, law courses earned from
previous schools are NOT honored/credited in DLSU.

- Licensure Exams Passed (local and foreign, if applicable)

- Successful applicants who will enroll in the DLSU School of Law will be
required to attend the Seminar on Study Techniques (SST) for New Students.
The SST will be held on the following dates:

• July 15 and 22 (whole day of Saturday)


• July 17 to 21 (1800H to 2200H)

Successful applicants who will enroll in the DLSU School of Law will be asked
to pay a non-refundable P10,000.00 confirmation fee and attend the SST,
which is why reserving the abovementioned dates this early is a requirement.

2. Gokongwei College of Engineering

The Master of Science in Civil Engineering (MSCE) program is only accepting BS in


Civil Engineering (BSCE) Graduates.

The following engineering departments accept MS applications to their graduate
programs, but their applicants’ earned bachelors’ program must be related to their
applied MS program:

Doctorate Programs

1. DBA applicants must submit a master’s thesis or a final paper in a “strategy”-related


course.

Applicants are, likewise, well advised to be ready to discuss 2 scholarly and
professional articles that will be assigned to them at least 24 hours prior the
interview schedule.

Starting Term 2, AY2021-2022, submission of an NMAT by GMAC score will be made
a mandatory requirement for all applicants to the DBA program. To know more

Applicants who qualified for admission to the DBA program in Term 1, AY2021-2022
but had to defer enrollment for Term 1, AY2022-2023 need not take the NMAT by
GMAC if s/he will reprocess applications for Term 1, AY2022-2023 (the last time the
ADMT status of the group in the aforementioned program will be honored).

For those who took NMAT and got into the DIPMGT Program, they need not take
the NMAT again when they proceed to their MBA. Those who want to enter the DBA
Program, though, must take the NMAT again even if they graduated from the DLSU
MBA Program.

2. PhD in History by Research applicants will be required to submit the following in
addition to the above requirements:
2.1. A Capsule Research of at least ten (10) pages discussing the
research prospect(s) of the applicant.
2.2. A Portable Data Format (PDF) copy of his/her recent publication(s)
in a journal or his/her most recent single authored book(s). N.B. Thesis
or dissertation, unless published, are not up for consideration.
2.3. An updated Curriculum Vitae.

3. PhD in Literature applicants will be asked to submit the following as their research
output:
3.1. Research agenda for dissertation.
3.2.Two (2) published scholarly papers and/or creative works in
journals/magazines/books
3.3. MA Thesis (Title and Abstract)

4. PhD in Psychology and PhD in Political Science applicants are required to submit a
full copy of their master’s thesis.

5. PhD in Psychology applicants will be asked to:
5.1. Submit a photocopy of undergraduate transcript.
5.2. Submit a research plan. Please click the link for the required

5.3. Attend an interview to be scheduled and conducted online by the
Graduate Program Coordinator and/or senior psychology faculty..

6. PhD in Physics applicants will be asked to:

Create a 7-minute video (in English language) with the following details:

6.1. State your name, your undergrad degree and from which
university, and graduate degree you are applying for in DLSU.
6.2.Why did you choose to take Physics for your graduate degree?
What motivates you to complete the program?
6.3. Explain your MS thesis within 3 minutes ONLY.
6.4. Provide the knowledge and skills you earned while doing your
thesis.
6.5. Which research group do you plan to join and why?
6.6. If you are not a BS/MS Physics graduate, you will be required to
take 3-7 bridging/refresher courses depending on your transcript of
records. If you are a BS/MS Physics graduate, you have the option to
take them. Please state the courses of your preference.

2. MA in Communication applicants who have already taken a Communication Theory
course will be asked to indicate the year the course was taken and append a copy
of the course syllabus to his/her transcript. Applicants with production experience
must submit a production portfolio showcasing samples of production skills and
output.

3. MFA in Creative Writing applicants will be asked to submit the following:

3.2. Two (2) published creative works in journals/magazines/books
3.3. Abstract for MFACREA thesis

4. MA in International Studies applicants will be asked to prepare and submit a 500-
word essay describing the topic they would like to work on for their thesis. For

5. MS in Marketing/Master in Marketing Communications applicants will be required
to submit copies of any promotional material (flyers, newspaper, radio or tv
advertisement, promotional video, social media advertisement, blog, etc. that they
may have done in promoting a product or service.

6. MS in Physics, MS in Applied Physics, and Master in Physics applicants will be asked
to create a 7-minute video (in English language) with the following details:

6.1. State your name, your undergrad degree and from which
university, and graduate degree you are applying for in DLSU.
6.2. Why did you choose to take Physics for your graduate degree?

This certification must be a current and ongoing employment in a
corporate organization that is not a family-owned business of the

APPLICANTS who PASS and eventually ENROLL will be asked to turn over original copies of
the requirements in a long brown envelope during CONFIRMATION OF ENROLLMENT. The
brown envelope should be properly labelled with the applicant’s complete name (SURNAME,
FIRST NAME, MIDDLE INITIAL) in big upper case letters on the upper left corner on the
backside of the envelope. The Office of Admissions and Scholarships (OAS) reserves the right
to decline applications that have not met the criteria set by the Office.
