Mind + noun/pronoun /gerund

Mind + possessive adjective/object pronoun + gerund


Mind – is used in interrogative and negative sentences

- I don’t mind walking
- Would you mind not smoking?
- Would you mind my borrowing your book? = would you mind if I borrowed your book?

Do you mind if… / Mind if… buholatda If dan so’ng present simple ishlatamiz

- We spent so much money redecorating the house
- He has wasted his time doing unnecessary things
- It is a waste of time chatting all the time

Go/come + gerund ( physical activity words and shopping )

Be busy + gerund

- She is busy writing out the wedding invitations

SEE, HEAR, FEEL, SMELL, LISTEN (TO), NOTICE, WATCH

V + somebody/something + gerund

Intend

Intend + infinitive/gerund

- I intend to sell my car = I intend selling my car


- We intented to go to Australia = We intented going to Australia
Intend + somebody/something + infinitive
- I intend him to take over the department
- She intended me to hear the remark

Can’t/couldn’t bear

Can’t/couldn’t bear + infinitive/gerund ( but can’t help + gerund )

- I couldn’t bear staying there = I couldn’t bear to stay there

can’t/couldn’t bear + infinitive

- I couldn’t bear to tell him ( so I didn’t )

Advise, allow, permit, recommend, encourage

V ( any tense) + V complement ( Gerund)


- He advised applying at once
- She recommends buying iPhone.
- They don’t allow parking
- I encourage competing in market fairly

V + somebody/something + Infinitive

- Do you encourage us to challenge

Need, require,want + Gerund

- My car needs repairing


- The grass wants cutting
