Included in the design and management of the election were seven ballot measures ranging from
elected board-of-director seats to membership initiatives proposed for adoption. To cast their election
votes, members participated using an online portal designed and deployed by Govurn. Govurn's flexible
voting implementation for RChain Cooperative included "ranked choice" for board seats and "plurality"
for member initiatives. All votes are now stored on the blockchain, accessible by RChain Cooperative
members for secure, immutable, and most importantly, auditable results.
The election turnout was outstanding — exceeding expectations at almost 40% of eligible cooperative
voters. The turnout is exceptional compared to the challenges of other blockchain communities who are
seeing voter participation in the single digits for blockchain governance.
Deanna Duke, Director of Ecosystem Operations at RChain Cooperative, worked closely with the
Govurn team on setting up the election. "Working with the Govurn team was a true pleasure. Not only
were they able to achieve implementing groundbreaking technology by having our annual membership
election recorded on the blockchain, but they were able to do it in a very short timeline and with the
ability to accommodate our changing requirements. I look forward to working with them again!"

Karl Kurrle, Govurn CEO, explains Govurn's election approach. "There are many assumptions about
how blockchains must be used with voting. At Govurn, we design the process to adopt the advantages
of the blockchain while not losing the advantages of existing secure systems." Govurn's integration
partners, Netvote and Forum Cooperative, have been working closely with Govurn to make sure the
election was a success.
Through months of hard work and dedication, Govurn was able to execute their first blockchain-based
election with tremendous positive feedback and a great voter turnout. But it does not stop here; Govurn
is already working on their next blockchain-based election and is excited to implement more elections in
the future. Govurn has an upcoming election in November, so look out for updates coming soon.
