Carlos Alberto Vives Restrepo

(Santa Marta, August 7, 1961) is a


Colombian singer-songwriter,
producer, philanthropist and actor,
pioneer and creator of a new
sound based on traditional genres
of Colombian music such as
cumbia and vallenato. He has won
two Grammy Awards and fifteen
Latin Grammy Awards. With 17
gramophones in his possession,
he was the first Colombian to
receive a Grammy Award from the
American Recording Academy. He
received the Billboard Hall of
Fame Award and was inducted
into the Latin Songwriters Hall of
Carlos Vives

Fame, in addition to receiving the


Icon Award at the Musa Awards. In
Spain he won the Ondas award
and twice the Friend Award, given
by the Principality of Asturias.
