SACK RACE

- a race in which competitors, typically children, stand in sacks up to the waist or neck and
jump forward.

The History of the Sack Racing Game


This game has existed since the Dutch colonial era, but it is not known exactly
who created it and when. In the past, this game was played by children aged 6-12
years, before finally adults took part in this game.

You will need:

 String
 One sack or old pillowcase per player.

How to play:

1. Make a start line and finish line with the string.


2. Stand inside your sack and hold on to the top of it.
3. When one player yells GO! hop as fast as you can to the finish line, first there
wins.

The sack race or potato sack race is a competitive game in which participants place both of their
legs inside a sack or pillow case that reaches their waist or neck and hop forward from a starting
point toward a finish line. The first person to cross the finish line is the winner of the race.

The fastest 100 metres sack race is 25.96 seconds and was achieved by Christian Roberto López
Rodríguez in Yuncos, Spain, on 18 November 2020. [1] Christian also holds the world record for the
200 metres sack race, he completed the distance in a time of 63.88 seconds on 3 January 2021. [2]
The fastest 4x100 metres sack race is 2 minutes and 29.09 seconds [3] and was achieved by Andrew
Rodaughan, Patrick Holcombe, James Osbourne and Luke McFarlane in Beveridge, Australia, on 17
June 2003
