Corvallis Parks and Recreation Presents the 1st Annual

ARTists in the PARKS A plein air event

CALL to ARTISTS
Information about ARTists in the PARKS ARTists in the PARKS is an opportunity for artists of all ages to experience painting en plein air in 4 parks in Corvallis, Oregon on September 10, 2011. It celebrates the century-old technique of outdoor painting that was the innovation of French Impressionist painters. The 4 Corvallis parks offer a variety of landscapes for artists to capture moments that reflect the everchanging colors, light and shadows and the shifting elements of each environment. Willamette Park offers natural and park settings along the Willamette River. There are soccer fields, a dogs off leash area, a playground, a Disc Golf course and wooded paths. Riverfront Park, in downtown Corvallis, has the Corvallis Farmers Market from 9 am 1 pm that day and offers a variety of subjects for artists to capture. In addition Riverfront Park offers a multi modal path, plazas, public art and landscaped areas as subject areas. Central Park is one of the oldest parks in our system. It has a gazebo where Tableaux Vivants (Living pictures) will be offered from 9:30 am 12:30 pm, a playground, an extensive garden area, public sculptures and the historic church building which houses the Corvallis Arts Center. Bald Hill Natural area has a historic barn, waving grass fields and at the top of Bald Hill a view of the Willamette Valley. Artists will bring their freshly made art to the Chintimini Senior Center for an evening public 1
