First Time Child’s Dance

Yellow silk shorts and the outfit of his pair
Distracted by the bouncing ponytail of his pair
Cold air passes over his skin
His senses overwhelmed
Wooden stage thumps and audience’s screams
The school of Mother Serafina

His eyes stare at the cement

Afraid of the audience’s look
Oh, what a cheery event
While the boy’s psyche is filled with torment

Pulses go on autopilot
Internally whining and panicking
Silently hoping and praying
For non-existent confidence to silence his discomfort

His eyes going everywhere

Trying to find a place to shed his fear
His ears overwhelmed
With the noisy music he is dancing while in fear
His mind gripping onto his dancing spirit
While the stage fright inevitably strengthens his fear

A clock alarm rings over his head

Reminding him to halt this internal mess
As the speaker halts
As the audience claps
The boy collapsed into tears
While darkness leaves him in fear
