Services are the help provided by the community to its members for their needs. These are important so
people in the community will have an orderly life. This will happen through the different programs and
activities that will respond to the health, education, and peace and order needs of the people.

HEALTH SERVICES

They say, "Health is wealth." It is important for the people to be healthy because they help the
community to develop and progress. One of the problems faced by a community is about health: Health
problems are the effects of poverty, pollution, and dirty surroundings.

Diseases like dengue and leptospirosis spread due to the dirty environment. Dengue is caused by
mosquito bites. Leptospirosis is acquired from wading in flood waters infected by urine of mice and rats.

There are instances where the family lacks money to provide the needs of its members to improve their
health. The children are malnourished; that is why they are underweight. In some barangays, there are
no doctors and hospitals that can help improve the health condition of the people. In order to solve this
problem, many communities has a Barangay Health Center. Doctors and nurses from the Barangay
Health Centers give free health services like vaccination. Newborn babies are given free vaccination
through the Expanded Program on Immunization or EPI.

Dengue is obtained from the bite of Aedes aegypti mosquito. Common symptoms of dengue is fever,
vomiting, skin rashes, and bleeding. If it is not cured immediately, dengue can result to death

The diseases included in the Expanded Program Immunization (EPI) that are given immediate attention
are tuberculosis, polio, diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, and measles.

The Barangay Health Centers and government hospitals give free consultations to sick persons and
pregnant women. They also give free medicines. In some barangays, they have Botika ng Barangay where
people can buy cheaper medicines. This is a big help especially to low- income families.
