TRS - Prominent activities
2001
• On May 17, 2001, the first public
meeting named 'Simhagarjana' was
held in Karimnagar.

• Gotti Bhupathi presided over the


meeting and Lok Sabha member
Shibusoren (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha -
JMM leader) was the chief guest.

• Speaking in this assembly, KCR


condemned the closure of Fertilizer
Corporation of India in Ramagundam.

• It is remarkable that immediately after


this meeting, Chandrababu Naidu laid
the foundation stone for the Devada
project. Devadula
• The TRS party achieved good results in
the local body elections held in April
2001.

• TRS won 3000 Sarpanch seats, 1043


MPTC seats, more than 80 MPP seats, 87
ZPTC seats.

• Santhoshreddy of this party is Chairman


of Nizamabad Zilla Parishad and K.V.
Rajeswara Rao was elected Chairman of
Karimnagar Zilla Parishad.

• KCR won the Siddipet by-election in


September 2001 with a majority of
58,000 votes, defeating Congress
candidate Vanga Hanumantha Reddy and
TDP candidate Mareddy Srinivasa Reddy.

• On 17th November, 2001, TRS organized


a grand Prajagarjana Sabha at
Khammam.
2002
• On 27th March, 2002 TRS party held a public • After the BJP said that the Telangana

• Alenarendra introduced a private bill in the


Parliament seeking the formation of Telangana
state in the year 2000.
• In September 2002, TRS took up
programs called Pallebata and
Bastibata.

• The main purpose of this is that TRS


leaders go to villages and towns to
know about public issues.

• Nimma Narasimhareddy, a TRS


leader, died of a heart attack while
conducting a rural campaign in
Karimnagar district.

• In November 2002, TRS leaders went


on a mass hunger strike for irrigation
facilities to Telangana.

• In Krishna-Godavari districts, Diksha


was organized for Telangana's
justifiable water share.
2003
• On January 6, 2003, TRS organized a public
meeting named 'Telangana Garjana' at the
Gymkhana Grounds, Secunderabad.

• Shibusoren, Ram Vilas Paswan (Lok Janashakti)


and Medhapatkar (National Alliance for People's
Movement) were the chief guests.

• In March, a car rally was organized from Hyderabad


to Delhi and a public meeting was held at Ramlila
Maidan in Delhi. Ram Vilas Paswan was the chief
guest of this meeting.

• On 27th April, 2003 the second anniversary of TRS


party was organized in warangal.

• This meeting was named as 'Warangal Jaitrayatra'.


KCR reached the assembly from Siddipet by
bicycle.

• It was attended by Deve Gowda (Janata Dal),


Bhanwarlal (leader of Vidarbha movement and
editor of Lokmat), Babulal Tiwari (leader of
Bundelkhand movement) and Ajit Singh (Union
Agriculture Minister).
• In the month of May, KCR organized
a padayatra from Alampur to
Gadwala for Rajolibanda Diversion
Scheme (RDS) water.

• Farmers of Kurnool vandalized the


well to prevent water from reaching
the RDS. KCR vehemently protested
against it.

• KCR took up a dharna for the


implementation of GO 610 in front
of Jagjeevan Ram statue at
Hyderabad on 11th June, 2003.

• In August, TRS took out a Rythu


Yatra from Kodada to Haliya to
pressurise govt to provide irrigation
facilities to Nagarjunsagar left canal
farmers.
• In September, 2003, a conference was
conducted by the leaders who are
participating in statehood movements
all across India. This conference was
held at Maulankar Hotel, Delhi. The
conference has seen the presence of
following prominent leaders:

(i) Bhanwarlal Purohit (A prominent leader
who fought for the separation of the
Vidarbha region from Maharashtra and the
formation of Vidarbha as a separate state
with Nagpur as its capital.

(ii) Prof. Babulal Tiwari : A leader who


fought for the separation of the Bundel
regions of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar
Pradesh states and the formation of a
separate Bundel Khand state with Jhansi
as its capital.
iii) Ajitsingh: His main demand was
to form the state of Harita Pradesh
with Meerut as its capital
• October 2003 - KCR started
