Worksheet 2

Learners Diversity

A. Focus on gender, Needs, Strengths, Interests, Experiences, Language, Race, Culture, Religion,
Socio-economic Status, Difficult Circumstances/ Disabilities & handicaps and Indigenous peoples
( Ethnic Group)
B. The Community & Home Environment

Areas to look into:

1. Describe the learners in terms of their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.
a. Physical- gross and fine motor skills

Children at this early age acquire these skills by completing everyday tasks. Usually in the
classroom, we observe students using their hands, fingers, and eyes to copy information
provided by their teachers for long periods of time. Students can participate in teacher
activities such as drawing, painting, cutting with scissors, pasting, and measuring with a
ruler. Students can demonstrate their talents in sports when they are outside. In the
classroom, students are very active playing games, playing with friends, and cleaning the
classroom.

b. Social- interaction with peers, teachers, parents and other adults

It is noticeable that student with the same grade level usually interact and socialized with
each other and other student in different level hardly interacts with other grade level.
Students understand boundaries with their teachers and show appropriate gestures and
appropriate words as a sign of respect for their teachers. The teachers and parents are open
to working together for the benefit of children. Everyone has a different position in the
school, but everyone is treated equally.

c. Emotional- how do they handle their fears, frustrations, their disposition and temperaments

Students with learning difficulties do not hesitate to consult their teachers and ask for help in
clarifying their lessons. Students at school tend to be more open about their concerns to their
schoolmates, although students usually call their teachers when they are in trouble.

d. Cognitive- oral language proficiency and communication skills, comprehension, thinking

skills, and problem solving skills

Students are very diverse, but unfortunately there are still students with slow learning
abilities. On the other hand, some student excels in certain subjects. Students more likely to
be actively involved tend to be those with better cognitive skills.
2. How diverse are the students in terms of their ethnic group, race, religion, socio-economic status,
and gender?

The school boasts a diverse student body in terms of gender, social class, and religion, yet this
hasn't prevented people from getting along with one another. In everyone's view, everyone is
equal. Without hesitation, students respect this diversity.

3. How does the teacher deal with students in term of the different aspects of their individuality?
Are they treated fairly based on their individuality and in terms of talents, giftedness, disabilities?

Children with special abilities are given the opportunity to further develop their skills, while late
bloomers are made sure to focus on the correct assessments necessary to keep up with the class.
When children with disabilities come to school alongside the children without disabilities, they
receive important interventions and support to focus and develop what they need to learn in
school.

4. One of the sensitive issues nowadays is gender & LGBTQ + issues. How is this dealt with in the
classroom setting? How do the learners behave towards their peers and other people? How do
their peers treat them?

Learner unexpectedly in such young age was engage and well open minded related to that topic,
learners with identity confusion had never been excluded inside the classroom, they were treated
equally with respect and rights, the amusing part is that student with identity confusion usually
excel and lead the classes, through that they receive more respect, friendship and company from
their peers.

5. What learners’ peculiarity and differences are prevalent in the school environment? How do the
teacher deal with them? What strategies are employed?

Student with odd behavior was always mistakenly unreasonable but despite with such behavior
there a huge reason in a way that the teacher and peers won’t understand if they weren’t able to
communicate the student briefly. Towards this displeasing behavior the teacher was able to
handle through appropriate approach like giving the child a warning when displaying unpleasing
behavior in the middle of classes, if warning won’t work, teacher will not waste time and will
going to continue the discussion. After the class the confrontation will happen privately for both
teacher and student and talk what the reason behind displaying inappropriate behavior during
the class.

6. What roles do students take inside and outside the classroom?

The student inside the school is bound to learn, discover their talent and equip their self with
skills. Outside of school, students arerole models in society and a responsible child, siblings and
citizens of the society.
7. Would you consider the classroom setting and the curriculum culturally appropriate and
responsive?

Unfortunately, due to pandemic student having hard time to cope with the spiral curriculum
guide, it is proven that the two years of digital online classes decrease the expected attainment of
the student skills. In fact, the two years of online instruction left a gap that the teacher ought to
have filled by summarizing the subject covered in their prior grade level.

8. What teaching methodologies and strategies that strengthen, enrich and complement the diversity
of the learners does the teacher employ?

The teacher directly use scaffolding such in a way of providing notes, visual aids, discussing
difficult vocabulary before presenting a new text or offering a pre-planned study guide to aid
revision In addition to being appealing to kinesthetic learners, activities and teaching methods
like role playing, debates, and practical demonstrations can be used to engage all students.
