2. Have students split into instrument groups, no instruments are needed for this portion.
a. Have cellos/basses clap straight quarter notes, while upper strings pat eighth notes on
their laps
b. Have upper strings switch to patting triplets on their laps
c. Instruct students to remove the second note of every triplet
d. Instruct students to accent the second and fourth beat (1-li 2-li 3-li 4-li)
3. Have students pick up their instruments
a. Instruct students to pizzicato the rhythm with the cellos/basses playing the root,
violin playing the third, and viola playing the fifth of the D triad
