Mission Statement:
Free Arts programs inspire hope in the lives of children who have experienced abuse, neglect,
poverty and homelessness through innovative creative arts programs and positive interactions
Mission/Purpose:
The mission of Free Arts is to inspire hope in the lives of children. Children get to have the
experience to express themselves through art. They are able to give children opportunities to talk
to therapists, judges, counselors, lawyers, and social workers. Since most of these children don’t
have advocates because their parents can’t provide a safe environment, Free Arts works hard to
children who aren’t having the best treatment at home. The purpose of Free Arts for Abused
Children is to help these children not only grow up, but to help heal the wounds and scars that
have been inflicted on them. Not only do they help these children, they also assist parents to try
and understand their children better and what they are going through. Free Arts has affected the
lives of individuals, but has an even greater impact on the community as a whole. Through
educational art outreach programs, Free Arts has made it clear that the cycle of child abuse can
be broken through positive adult interaction. This organization is willing to give a weekly
volunteer program. I would be teaching an art class with a group of children whose parents are
aiming to live a sober life. As I share my own thoughts about my art, I hope that positivity I give
out is being spread to these children. When participating in programs like these, I am able to
reflect on my actions that have been helping both children and parents. Being open minded is
also another benefit I am gaining, since not everyone has the same struggles. I can become
