Assignment 1

1. Information technology (it) is a general term that describes any technology that helps produce, manipulate, store, communicate, and/or disseminate information.

2. Online means using a computer or some other information device, connected through a network, to access information and services from another computer or
information device.

3. Virtual means that something is created, simulated, or carried on by means of a computer or a computer network but also that it seems almost real.

4. Cyberspace area that includes not only the online world and the internet in particular but also the whole wired and wire-less world of communications in
general.

5. Local area network (LAN) is network that connects, usually by special cable and also wirelessly, a group of desktop pcs and other devices, such as printers, in
an office or a building.

6. Multimedia is technology that presents information in more than one medium-including text, graphics, animation, video, and sound-in a single integrated
communication.

7. Downloading is the transmission of data from a remote computer to a local computer, as from a website to your own pc-for example, downloading a movie.

8. Data is raw facts and figures that are processed into information.
Information is data that has been summarized or other-wise transformed for use in decision making.

9. The basic operations of a computer are input, output, process, storing and controlling.

10. Connectivity meant is ability to connect computers to one another by communications lines to provide online information access and the sharing of peripheral
devices.
