Module1 Exam 

Read the instructions carefully:
• Prepare at least four pages of clean bond paper, pencil or ballpen, eraser, and calculator.
• Open your many cam installed software.
• This exam is only good for one and a half hour (1½).
• Allow 10 minutes allowance, in submitting your file, finalize your answer, take a picture of it and
convert it to pdf, then upload it to BB (not in course message).
• Before the zoom session end all answers should be submitted otherwise a score of zero will be
obtained (refer to the institutional guidelines).
• You can take the completion in module 2 but the score will only be a passing mark.
• No solution No Credit.

I. Problem Solving. (25 points each)

4. Estimate the derivative of the function, f(x) = cos x + tan-1 x, at xi= 3.5 using Richardson’s extrapolation
centered finite divided difference at step sizes h = 0.75 & h = 0.55, find the difference between the true
value and estimated value.
