NorCal AEE President’s Message

If you weren’t able to join us in January for the tour of the Clifford L. Allenby Zero
Net Energy building, we missed you! But seriously, I think you really missed out
seeing a stellar example of multi-story commercial design reimagined. I want to give
a special thanks to Neil Steiner (Glumac), Dan Burgiyne (DGS), and all the other
resources they brought in to make the tour educational and fun. We topped it off
with a fantastic view of the Capitol Rotunda at night…

I am looking forward to this month’s tour as well - seeing the newly renovated headquarters of our very
own local utility. Hope you can join us!
Also I want to thank all of you who have continued your participation and membership in our
organization and specifically our Chapter during the last three years. AEE, and this Chapter, are a vital
link to the world-wide network of energy professionals and offer unique opportunities for professional
growth and leadership, as well as continuing education and friendships. Your financial support allows us
to continue to engage and reward our student scholars who will become our future colleagues in the
Energy transition.
If you have not yet chosen to be a member of AEE, or of our NorCal Chapter, I encourage you to talk to
other Chapter members and hear why they believe membership is worthwhile and rewarding and join us
as a new member. And if you have been a Chapter member and are looking for ways to evolve your
participation, please talk with any of the Current Board members to find out ways you can participate.
There are ways, large and small, that you can become part of this organization’s evolution and future
events. And that is truly Energy well spent!
Hope to see you in 2023 at one of our events,

Heather M. Benner, P.E., C.E.M.
