The Royal society for prevention of cruelty to animals is launching an initiative to help animals affected by the war in Ukraine. Many Ukrainians had to leave their pets behind during evacuation due to transportation issues, and over 300 dogs and hundreds of cats are reported to have died so far. The RSPCA plans to find and shelter abandoned animals, provide transportation to safe locations, food, veterinary services, and help reunite animals with their owners. They are seeking volunteers, shelters, veterinarians, and truck drivers to help care for and transport the hundreds of pets left behind each day.
