DNA EXTRACTION

Materials
250 ml bottled water
3 plastic cups
Clear dishwashing liquid
1 tbsp salt
100 ml isopropyl alcohol
Food coloring (any color)
1 vial (optional)

Procedure
1. Make a saline solution in a plastic cup by mixing 1 tbsp of salt and 250 ml water.
2. Gargle the saline solution for 1 minute.
3. Spit the saline solution into a new cup.
4. Add 1 drop of the dishwashing liquid into the saline solution and stir gently by swirling
the cup..
5. In a separate cup mix the isopropyl alcohol and 3 drops of food colloring.
6. Gently pour the alcohol mixture into the saline solution little by little until you see white
clouds and strings form.
7. You can transfer your DNA in avial and preserve it.
