The majority of people are aware of the problem of pollution, which

contributes to global warming. To combat this, a number of initiatives have been
taken, such as the creation of national and international policies to reduce
emissions of greenhouse gases. E-bikes are also one of the solutions in this
problem since it is a type of transportation that uses electricity as a power.
However, there are an increasing number of accidents due to the use of e-bikes. To
reduce the increasing number of accidents, the MMDA traffic enforcement group
director wants to register all the e-bikes to the LTO. I agree that e-bike registration
should be implemented nationwide because, in my opinion, there are many
accidents caused by the use of e-bikes because the users of this mode of
transportation are minors. Because even elementary students can ride e-bikes, there
is a higher risk of an accident.

Registration of e-bikes should be implemented nationwide, because there are

increasing number of accidents. In 2021 the MMDA has registered 346 road
crashes involving e-vehicles along the major thoroughfares of the capital region,
Nuñez said (Villanueva, 2022). The Republic Act 11697, also known as the
Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act, An act that requires riders to have
their e-vehicles registered at the LTO. In my experience I can see that e-bikes are
used by students and as I observe most of tricycle drivers are complaining about
how those students drives e-bikes. Some of the tricycle drivers say that students are
reckless, and there should be a separate way for those drivers. If republic act
11697 will be implemented nationwide there will be positive outcomes. It will
limit the people that could drive e-bikes for example the students, even elementary
students are capable of driving e-bikes they can drive but they can’t drive well and
safely. As a result the number of accidents will be reduced.

To summarize, The Republic Act 11697, also known as the Electric Vehicle
Industry Development Act should be implemented nationwide in order to reduce
the number of accidents due to the use of e-bikes. The e-bike riders should register
their vehicles to the LTO to limit the riders such as reckless students aged 12 and
below, old people and others that are not qualified to drive the e-bikes. If a person
wants to drive and be qualified to drive an e-bikes they should undertake
qualifications to the LTO.

In the Philippines, there are a lot of Filipino citizens working abroad. They
work hard to provide for their families. Most of the Overseas Filipino Workers
(OFW) are domestic helpers. Some of them are experienced abuse but they chose
to continue working just to provide the needs of their family. To lessen the number
of OFWs that experience abuse or mistreatment Senator Raffy Tulfo has urged the
Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and other relevant agencies to establish a
tight screening process on foreign employers to avoid abuse and maltreatment of
Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). I strongly agree with the statement of senator
Raffy Tulfo because DMW should ensure the safety of OFWs and in able to do
that they should have a tight screening on foreign employers to have a knowledge
about their personal information.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and other relevant agencies

should establish a tight screening process on foreign employers because according
to Philippine Overseas Labor Offices (POLOs) in 2020 there were nearly 5000
cases of abuse recorded. It is clear that a lot of Migrant Workers are experiencing
mistreatment. So to combat this problem, the foreign employers should undertake a
tight screening to know their personal information and if they are qualified to hire
Filipino Workers. This is for the safety of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

In conclusion, there are a lot of OFWs working hard to provide the needs of
their family. However, they are experiencing mistreatment and abusement. In order
to lessen the number of abused OFWs and to avoid mistreatment on them the
foreign employers should undertake a tight screening process before hiring Filipino
workers to know their personal information that enables the DMW quality them for
hiring Filipino workers.
