1.Explain the function of diesel engine for gas turbine frame 6?

Diesel engine used for starting mean system for gas turbine. It use to drive compressor and
accessory equipment through accessory gear before turbine have enough power to drive
itself and it’s auxiliary. After turbine speed sustain it will be cut from turbine shaft by jaw
clutch disengage.

2.Explain the function of solenoid valve 20DV,20DA-1 and 20DA-2 during start up when it
energized and de-energized
20DV use to control diesel at idle speed for warm up before accelerate turbine and cooling
down before stop. Normally de-energize, if diesel engine has stop command after cool down
complete it will energized for 30 second to stop fuel to diesel engine.

20DA-1 After turbine breaker 20DA-1 do the function to hold turbine speed at minimum
speed (L14HM pick up) for purging, firing and warm up turbine after flame detected 20
second it will be de-energized

20DA-2 uses for turbine break away and accelerate turbine to sustain speed.
For turbine breakaway.
After diesel engine warm up complete (2 min) 20DA-2 will energize to increase diesel
speed to maximum speed to increase torque power from torque converter to rotate turbine
shaft break away. After turbine shaft break away 20DA-2 will be de-energize.
For accelerate turbine speed,
After flame detector detect flame more than 2 channel 20 second later 20DA-2 will
energized to increase diesel speed to maximum speed to accelerate turbine speed to sustain
speed. After turbine at sustain speed (65% app)jaw clutch will be disengage this signal to
cut 20DA-2 out of service and diesel engine decrease speed to idle speed (controlled by
20DV) for cool down 5 minute before shut down diesel engine.

3. When turbine zero speed if jaw clutch not engage the diesel engine can be started True or
False?…… FALSE IF Start up turbine (see logic L4DE)…..
TRUE If diesel engine in test mode L83DTCMD and L43DET (no signal for
ratchet L20CSX de-energized)see L4DE
4.If turbine speed complete sequence (full speed) is it possible to start the diesel engine and
tell me what the reason to support you answer?
YES because after turbine complete sequence that mean jaw clutch disengage (that mean
shaft of starting system separate from turbine shaft) thus we can start diesel engine for test
safely (see logic L4DE)

5.After command to start diesel engine 35 second if diesel speed less than 19.7% or diesel
lube oil pressure less than 0.62 bar diesel engine will be stopped TRUE or FALSE?

6.Explain the function of 88DS

88DS diesel engine starting motor, used for driving diesel engine for start up for compress
the air to combustion chamber and driving accessory equipment before engine running by it
self.

7. What is the cause of alarm No. 129 Diesel lube oil pressure low?
The signal comes from pressure switch 63QD when diesel lube oil pressure less than 0.28
bar after diesel start 35 second it will has alarm and stop the diesel engine.
The cause may be come from
Diesel engine not successful start by fuel oil line block by air
Diesel lube oil pump cannot build up pressure
Pressure switch error such line blockage setting error or pressure switch malfunction

8. What is the cause of alarm 130 diesel engine cooling water temp high?
If temperature detect at cooling outlet line more than 93 oC temperature switch 26 DW will
sent signal to mark V to alarm no.130
The cause may be come from
Isolation valve at suction or discharge of diesel cooling water pump not open
Temperature switch error
Air was blocked at cooling water line.

9. During gas turbine start up what signal to de-energize 20DA-2 to warm up diesel engine
before shut down the diesel engine?
L33CSE jaw clutch disengage (after turbine speed more than 65% by mechanical force)
Make logic L4DA de-energized after that L20DAR will be de-energized and this signal de-
energized 20DA-2

10.Diesel engine warm up before shutdown after 5 minute 20DV will be energized 30 sec to
stop diesel engine after that it will be de-energized TRUE or FALSE?
