Assessment Criteria

You should write a formal report of between 2500 and 3500 words (excluding the list of
references/bibliography). You should also prepare a Table of Content and a List of
References/Bibliography that you cited/referred in the report.

No Criteria
1. Duly filled cover page. Appropriate table of content.
2. Introduction
Provides an overview of electric vehicles and robotics, current trends,
opportunities, challenges. Explain the need of motor in EV and robotcs briefly.
3. Understanding of Field of Study
Provide general review of Induction Motors and Servo Motors.
Include the motor construction, working principles, equivalent circuit, winding
arrangement etc in the context (at least two of the above). Include suitable and
relevant Tables, Figures, diagrams and equations. All material cited with proper
referencing. Good quality of Figures, diagrams.
4. Understanding of Literature Survey
Explain the motor performance characteristics, advantage, disadvantages etc.
5. Context
Sufficient references had been presented in the content. Most of the references
are up-to-date (≤ 5 years) and relevant to the context. You are encouraged to refer
to journals, conference proceedings and books. We recommend a range between
10 to 15 references.
6. Logical Argument
Select one of the motors. Provide brief justification on the selection. Provide sound
recommendation on how it could be used in an electric vehicle. Include factors in
determining motor’s performance and selection criteria (at least one for each).
7. Structure and Presentation
Report is structured, smooth flow of important information. Appropriate use of
English with minimum grammatical errors. All sources are properly referenced in
the report. References/bibliography adequately formatted using university
recognised referencing convention. Length of the report within the range (+/- 5 %
is acceptable). Student’s own work avoided poor scholarship in referencing.
Turnitin report will be referred in this context. *Proven contract cheating,
plagiarism cases can lead to voiding of component/course subject to the approval
of disciplinary committees.

Grading Scale (Out of 100)

80 + Outstanding Broad and deep understanding in the field of study. Provide highly
insightful review on the topics. Include state of the art information on
the research topics. Extensive range of quality sources correctly listed
and cited. High quality of Tables, Figures. Good usage of English
without grammatical errors.
70 - 79 Excellent Broad and good understanding of the topics. Appropriate range of
quality sources, correctly listed and cited.
60 - 69 Very Good Good understanding of the topics. Correct listing and citation of a fair
range of sources.
50 - 59 Good Fair knowledge of topics. Mostly correct listing and citing of a range
of sources.
40 - 49 Adequate Demonstrates only basic knowledge of the topics, citing/listing
limited range of standard texts.
30 - 39 Poor Limited and inappropriate/irrelevant information. Cut-and-paste with
little value added. Bibliography without citation within the text.
0 - 38 Fail Do not meet majority of the standards as described in the assessment
criteria.
