Intimacy (Into-me-see) is joining with someone - moving through all your blocks,
considerations and fears to a heartfelt closeness. Intimacy is sharing who we
REALLY are with another. We can do this physically, sexually, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. It requires trust to vulnerable and allow ourselves to be seen - 'warts and all' - and it requires courage to tell the truth about our dark side, our fears, our shame, our needs and our insecurities. It also requires commitment to the relationship and concentration to listen actively with empathy, to go for a solution that meets everyone needs, rather than focusing on what is wrong with the other when conflict arises. Most of all it requires love to care enough to make that commitment. The commitment makes you stretch, and that in turn creates more love.
