THE LONDON DUNGEON

The secrets of the

underground
Have you ever been so scared that
you hid behind your younger sister? If
not, then you need to visit the London
Dungeon, located in front of the
London Eye. I was really nervous to
go inside, since I had absolutely no
idea of what to expect. Picture taking
was not allowed inside, and I could not
find any pictures on the internet, so
this was definitely going to be an
exciting experience.

It was almost our turn to go in. Why

are they only letting a few people in at
a time? Is this going to be some kind
of roller coaster? I really hoped that it
wouldn’t be one. It was as pitch black
as the night sky. The door in front of
us slowly opened, and I felt my heart
beginning to beat rapidly. Creak,
creak! The next thing I knew, we were
standing in an elevator.

The lights went out, and the elevator

dropped into the ground with loud
and suspenseful music. I opened my
eyes, and we walked into a room. A
lady opened the door, and we walked
into a room that was decorated like
being at a doctor's office. I had no idea
of what was going to happen. There
were benches that the woman
instructed us to sit on. I sat on a bench
with my sister, and my parents were
right behind us. The woman had a
frightened look on her face.
As my eyes got used to the darkness, I
realised that someone was lying right in
front of us, but I couldn’t tell whether the
person was real or not. Then the lights
turned on. The lady asked a young woman
to step forward, and she was locked in a
cage behind the person lying in front of us.
Then the lady started talking, and she said:
“oh no, another one has passed away! This
illness is killing half of the population!” She
was clearly speaking about the realistic doll
lying in front of her. Then she turned to the
lady in that cage and yelled: “don’t worry
madam, I will see if you will make it next,
just give me a second.”

The lady stared at the dead person in front

of her, and suddenly started to pull out the
heart and examine it carefully. Then she
started squeezing the heart and some weird
liquid squirted out of it, and into the
audience. This really came out of nowhere,
so everyone shrieked. Some of it hit me, and
I really hope that it was just water. I now
realise that this was supposed to be set
during the Plague in England. Next the
lights went out again, and the woman
shouted: “oh no, the leaches have escaped!”
Suddenly there was a scream in the
audience, because something appeared on
the benches that we were sitting on, in the
form of a leach. Especially when the lights
went out again, and the lights went on and
off rapidly. Every time the lights turned on
again, the woman stood somewhere else.
She suddenly stood right in front of us and
we shrieked. Then the lights went out for
the last time, and when they turned back
on, the woman was gone. Everyone started
clapping. The woman that was locked in the
cage could now leave, and another door
opened.

Do you

dare to

enter?

DANGER
stay out!
As we went through that door there was a poster on the wall stating that we
were just in the 1st out of 19 rooms. I could see that it was like travelling through
time, because we were just experiencing the plague, and now we came into a
room where the lights were already on, and we all squeezed into that small room.
Then a young man came through the door, and said: “oh, I forgot something. I will
be right back.” Then the door closed, and I realised that the walls were big screens.

On the screens there was a village. One person that was in our group said to
their friend: “look there’s a fire!” And then I also saw that the village slowly started
burning, and then there came a voice explaining that this was how the plague
ended. The room suddenly got warmer, and dark smoke appeared. Then the door
that we came from opened again, and the young man said: “what are you still
doing here? GO!” And then the next door opened. I knew that this was going to
be a lot of fun.

Some other rooms that we went in were a barbershop, a bar, a graveyard, a

maze with no end, a bakery, a witch's cottage and many more. As I stepped out
of the London Dungeon, the sun shone into my eyes, and I saw the wonderful
London Eye and Big Ben. If you ever go to London you have to go to the London
Dungeon. Unless you are not ready for an adventure.
