Dear Dr. Tillotson,
‘On behalf of the Department of African American and African Diaspora Studies (AAADS), | want to
express my gratitude to you for establishing a beautiful working relationship between SUNY Cortland
and Indiana University Bloomington. You are developing a pipeline from SUNY Cortland Africana
Studies with IU AAADS. The importance of your sending exceptional students our way cannot be
overstated. Already, we appreciate the substantial achievements of Samantha Horton, including her
fine dissertation and a Fulbright Fellowship. And this year we are adding two new outstanding
students, Keyonna Fieser and Daniel Reischer, to your list of contributions to the program.
You are providing a great service to Indiana University , and by extension, to the discipline of Africana
Studies. We need a cadre of marvelous young minds to do the work of generating fresh ideas and
remaining faithful to the tenets of the discipline and the community. It is good to know that you know
what is required to sustain and elevate our discipline.
‘Thank you again for your keen commitment and for everything you continue to do in support of the
discipline.
