a. You are going to read an article about some presidents of the
United States. Some words are missing from the text.

1. Hamburger is thought to be a quintessentially American invention and it is a
relatively recent innovation.
2. In Roman Times hamburgers were made of minced sheep, pork and cow
meat.
3. Some variations of hamburger like ’kebobs’ were brought back to Europe by
travellers.
4. The Hamburger Sausage made by the Georgians is quite similar in taste to
modern day’s hamburger.
5. Later, ketchup was invented in the USA and finally all the elements of
hamburger were in one place.
6. Hamburger contains the name of the German city, Hamburg in its name
because its port was famous for shipping high-quality beef to all over the
world.
7. By the 1890s flat meatballs were served between two slices of bread to ease
the hunger of factory workers all across the USA.
8. In the beginning of the 1900s average hamburgers sold on streets were not
hygienically appropriate.
9. In Britain posh hamburgers are booming because they are thought to be made
of horsemeat along with brioche bun and homemade sauces.
10. Some countries like France and Russia are catching up in the consumption of
hamburgers.
