BALANCED SCORECARD
Course Description and Objectives
This workshop introduces the use of key performance indicators for nonprofit management. It emphasizes the use of performance measures with particular attention to the tools of scorecards and dashboards. Topics include: the use of key performance indicators in strategy review, performance assessment, and the development of corrective action. The major objectives of the course are to allow the participants to: 1. discuss the relationship between strategic planning, strategy, and key performance indicators; 2. introduce the tools of scorecards and dashboards; and 3. discuss the process of building a scorecard and a dashboard.

Presenter
The instructor for this course is Stephen P. Wernet, Professor of Social Work at St. Louis University. He is known both nationally and internationally for research on nonprofit organizations. His focus is on adaptation and change of nonprofit organizations and resiliency theory. In addition to Dr. Wernets expertise in nonprofit management, he is an editor, co-author, researcher, case instructor, consultant, and a 2006 Fulbright Scholar. Dr. Wernet has earned a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Connecticut and a doctoral degree from the University of Texas.
