TOURISM IN CAYMA

hello my name is Luis Sergio and I’m a student at the Jose Caruana school, I am 15 years
old and I live in Cayma Arequipa, where I have lived all my life
Did you know that Cayma is one of the most tourist districts of Arequipa? One of its many
attractions is its nature, such as the Pacha waterfalls.
The waterfall flows into a water fountain. There you can take a cool bath or just get your
feet wet to cool off from the walk. Around this natural inn you can find exotic flowers, as
well as occasional guanacos and vicuñas
The tourist places are found throughout the district, such as the viewpoints of the
beautiful valley and one of the most beautiful is Carmen Alto.
My district is also known for its magnificent views of the Chilina Valley, which can be
appreciated much better from the Carmen Alto viewpoint. It offers a view of the entire
city and its magnificent vegetation that grows alongside the Chili River.
one of our customs is the entry of capo
The entry of Ccapo, respected and preserved from the colony, takes place one day before
the central festival.
The devotee accompanied by his neighbors and friends traveled to the upper part of
Arequipa, such as cabrerías, skirts of the Chachani, among other places to bring the yareta
and the ccapo on donkeys, mules and llamas and put it to dry until the expected date.
Among the most recognized dishes we have the Caymeño marinade
The Caymeño marinade was born from the abundant production of chicha de guiñapo in
the district and the presence of muleteers in the area, which motivated the cooks to
prepare the pork with the chicha and offer it to the muleteers who went out to work
during hours of the dawn.
