Title: Seismic Design, Performance and behavior of Composite-Moment Frames with Steel Beam-to-

Concrete Filled Tube (CFT) Column Connections

Brief description: The objective of this research paper is to develop and evaluate design methodology of
a moment resisting frame with concrete filled steel tube as columns with both ductility and high
strength property. Three sets of prototype composite frame models from SAC and FEMA (FEMA-355C)
joint project was used as analysis and design basis. A simulation was done using a 2D-joint model with
rigid boundary element for the moment-rotation behavior and strength degradation for beam to CFT
connection. The over strength factor, inelastic deformation and P-delta effect for the entire structure
was evaluated using nonlinear pushover analysis.
