Journal #2 (Sampuso): “I will Entrust You with Leadership.”

As a student you realize that responsible leadership is the call of the times. It is
observed that many leaders fail to exercise their calling to serve. With “sampuso” (one
in heart), you are entrusted with gifts/talents that will give you the capacity to become an
excellent leader who serves others with justice, honesty, love, and care. To enkindle in
your heart the qualities of a good leader, reflect on the following questions.  

1.    How do you behave when you believe you have an advantage over another
person?
 Whenever I had or I know something that other don’t have, I always offer
them what I can give, but that would depend on what is the situation is. If it
is about leadership, I will try to first show what I can help to the group. I
will let my action speak for myself.

2.    Will you tell the truth, even when it does not place you in the most positive light?
Why?
 Yes without hesitation, because covering lies with another lie will just lead
you to a miserable place in life. Telling truth is a good thing to do so that
the problem can be addressed immediately.

3.    Will you do the honest thing, even when it cost you more than you could otherwise
get away with? Why?
 Yes, I will always be honest, especially to myself, because it is so peaceful
to live when you live without greed. It is so peaceful if you are enjoying the
victories you’ve won in life that you get it in a clean and right way. In
addition, you can regain what you lost but the thing you destroy by being
dishonest will always be there even you cover it up with good deeds.

4.    Will you go out of your comfort zone to extend concern and care for others? Why?
 Yes, especially if it is my Mom or part of my family because they are the
treasures in my life that I could not anymore find. If I’m going to pick
between living a luxurious life without them or living with them in a small
house. I will always pick to be with them, because with them I can do my
best to uplift them to live also a luxurious life that I could give.
