Reservation
To reserve this piece of equipment you will need to first be certified on this equipment. After
you have attended a training for the equipment you may sign up for a time slot. To see available
time slots and sign up for one please see the Reservation Binder (available at the front desk).
Your reservation reserves the equipment for you to use during that time, if you are more than 5
minutes late to your reservation time you will lose your reservation and the machine may be
used on a first come-first served basis.
Overview
Makers will learn how to:
Set up the mic to record
Basic understanding of the mic settings
Safety
● The mic is a precision instrument and should not be dropped or get wet
● Do not use the mic without the pop filter between your mouth and the mic
Equipment Setup
1. The first switch you will want to change is the top left picture
a. 0db is what you want it on unless you are very loud then use the -10db to turn the
volume input down
2. The second switch (middle picture) is for a low or high pass filter.
a. Leave this one switched to the left.
3. The last one is the top right picture for how the mic is “listening”
a. Far left side is the Omni setting which records 360 sound
b. The middle setting is Cardioid which is one directional (use this)
c. The far right setting is Figure-8, this would be used if you are recording an
interview so you can record yourself and the interviewee.
Make sure the 48v power button is turned on to give
power to the mic before you start recording.
