Exercise 1.

Do the following problems during our asynchronous session. Final output is to be submitted on
MARCH 8 during our scheduled class.
1.) A team of researchers observed the behavior of 20 children during break time on a
playground. The observers recorded how many times each child performed a violent act
against another child (be it a push, a kick or a punch). The scores of the 20 children are as
follows:
2, 0, 1, 0, 0, 4, 0, 8, 2, 1, 3, 0, 0, 2, 1, 4, 0, 0, 2, 6
a) Construct a frequency distribution table for this raw data.
b) Graph the data using the most appropriate method.
c) Interpret or discuss your graph.

2.) The burglary rates for two cities over a 6-yr period are presented in the following table:

a) Present this information graphically such that it is most informative.
b) Interpret your graph.

3.) Randomly select 8 students in your college. Select one of the following questions and ask
it to your sample eight students:
 How are you feeling today?
=Good, Just fine, Not feeling well
 How many siblings do you have?
 Do you like math?
=I love math, I like math, I dislike math
 Where do you live?
= categorize answers by hometown: Cabagan, San Pablo, etc

a) What is the level of measurement of the variable you considered?


b) Organize your data graphically and discuss it.
Note: You need NOT to write the name of your classmates you surveyed, just ask and
write their student number and answers to the question you selected.
