Anthony Albanese: Prime Minister of Australia and the new way of leadership

Australia's Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, perceives himself as a leader who didn't grow up
believing he was the one suitable of the position. He is exemplifying a different style of leadership,
one which Australians are unaware of. He lacks the smooth utterance, which would make him an
effective orator. However, he manages to turn his weakness into strength, and instead of attempting to
dominate the room, he seeks connections by analyzing faces, reactions and indications. Albanese does
not display any traits associated with toxic masculinity. Instead of having a rigid jaw, there is an
inclined head and a listening gesture, which is considered as a visible display of humility. 1 Those
characteristics were formed from his upbringing. He was raised only by his mother from who he
inherited a loyalty to three fundamental institutions on which he based his beliefs: Catholicism, the
South Sydney Rabbitohs rugby league team, and the Australian Labor Party. 2

The key concern was whether Anthony Albanese's so-called small target plan would provide him
enough leeway. Given the current 80 billion budget deficits there is perhaps no bigger constraint on
him than the so-called stage 3 tax cuts, which are forecast to cost a staggering 15.7 billion dollars in
their first year from July 2024 and 184.2 billion dollars in the first seven years. In an interview for
ABC News Australia the Prime Minister stated that the tax cuts were not negotiable. Australian
families are struggling with the cost of living, the big and small businesses are pressured and in need
of help, however, according to Albanese there is a movement in order to reach an agreement on how
to solve these problems rather than arguing who is to blame for them. The government provides cost
of living support wherever they can, nonetheless, it is done in a responsible way. 3 Moreover, the
establishment of the National Reconstruction Fund is a crucial part for further development.
According to the Prime Minister one of the lessons learned from the pandemic is that Australia should
become more independent and robust. Australians should not let themselves be at the end of the
international supply chain. Simply told, there is a need of production inside the country. The ability to
achieve it is in the hands of the people and, in the process, there will be a need for labor therefore
workplaces and a certain stabilization of the economy. In both cases one can perceive a situation,
which seems like a dead end: a trillion dollars debt and a global pandemic, however, in the end
Albanese managed to find the right way and resolve those limitations. 4

A joint security declaration that was signed by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Prime Minister
Fumio Kishida of Japan significantly increases defense cooperation and pledges both nations to
"consulting" with one another in the event of potential security concerns. According to the Executive
Director of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute Justin Bassi the joint declaration was "highly
significant" and "not merely an anodyne summary of the bilateral relationship". Not only did
Albanese followed the advice given by Bassi, but he also strengthens the level of partnership between
Japan and Australia. 5 Furthermore, the Prime Minister introduced Shaquille O’Neal as the promoting
voice of the indigenous Australians. The well-known basketballer according to Albanese, was the
right person for this position, because he has a huge platform of around 16 million twitter followers,
which includues a huge cohort of young people in Australia who may have no idea what the voice is
about, makes having him on board completely worthwhile. Albanese willingness and strive for a
bonded community could be traced down to the contracts that he signs with different countries
alongside with the people he works with, with the purpose of spreading a message among all
people in Australia.

Nowadays we live in a fast- developing world. Unfortunately, though people seem to not care about
the huge impact they have on the nature. The Prime Minister of Australia, however, is working on a
new initiatives to accelerate the growth of the critical mineral sector and support clean energy
technologies as Australia is moving towards net zero. Australia's natural resources are so important,
but there is a need to develop a new critical minerals strategy nationally, in consultation with industry
stakeholders and also, of course, part of that is with traditional owners. According to Albanese the
country has some of the world’s largest reserves of critical minerals and the new strategy will set a
vision for the sector. It will also complement other Government initiatives including the national
battery strategy and the electric vehicle strategy. These initiatives are extremely beneficial, because
they will create and support local jobs, diversify global supply chains, and meet the growing demand
which is there for batteries, electric vehicles and clean energy technology. Albanese dedication to
the process represents the openness not only to new ideas, but also to development.

To recapitulate the Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese is a distinctive type of leader,
which Australia has not seen yet. He does not give up when faced with a difficult challenge, it might
take some time, however, there will be a solution. He is more than capable of working in a group
environment as he demonstrates most recently with the contract with Japan. And last but certainly not
least Albanese desires knowledge with which he could grow not only a better country but also a better
community.
