Overview
DID Broadcast Product Marketing proudly announces ExtremeTVCR. It is a digital VCR software
reference design for PCI video decoder customers. Effective immediately ExtremeTVCR is available to
Bt878 and Fusion 878A customers at no additional cost.
ExtremeTVcr Application
Conexant has licensed the worldwide distribution right of On2’s (www.on2.com) TrueMotion RT
CODEC. It enables customers to develop their own software based digital VCR applications. This version
of TrueMotion RT CODEC is optimized to work exclusively with Conexant based silicon.
The ExtremeTVCR is a TrueMotion RT CODEC enabled sample application. Video for Windows and
DirectShow based versions are available. It allows users to select video sources, tune to different TV
channels, capture video and images to disk, and schedule recording events. It demonstrates superior
performance of TrueMotion real-time compression algorithm and illustrates a possible implementation of
PC based software digital VCR application. Both ExtremeTVCR’s object and source code are available
from Conexant’s FTP site. The source code is available to customers with signed Conexant source code
license agreements.
Product Positioning
ExtremeTVCR is the latest software initiative introduced by Conexant to provide continuous incremental
value to our Fusion family of broadcast receiver products. The two sample applications, at no cost to
Conexant customers, provide customers the ability to differentiate products and further advance end
users experience and enjoyment. In addition, this offer provides an alternative to costly hardware
solutions. The value of ExtremeTVCR, with its worldwide video standards support, is considered
significant as some customers are currently paying license fees to obtain the equivalent technology. This
new value continues to distinguish and differentiate Conexant as the market leader in PC video products.
