progressive change in the society.
WORK DONE BY ORGANIZATION

: COMICS FOR CHANGE

Comics for change is a skill development

workshop which aims at using comics to help
children voice their innermost concerns,
emotions and fears and articulate it to bring it
to the fore. The workshop aims at teaching
every student how to make a wall poster
comic from scratch and to effectively use this
kill throughout their lives to give voice to their
innermost concerns.
We Conduct this program with the expertise
of World Comics (Finland) and have already
conducted this workshop across various
school in Jharkhand. We are emboldened in
our vision to bring this medium within reach
of all children by the tremendous response
that our workshops have received. This skill
once learnt has and can be used by students
to give voice to topics that are closest to them
and concern them most.

: SCHOOL ON WHEELS

The objective of the project is to motivate

children from slums, bustees and streets to
get enrolled in formal education spaces at the
end of the program by developing in them an
interest for learning and school.
The School on Wheels is a fully equipped bus
that visits identified location and holds classes
using fun, innovative teaching methodologies
to urge these children to begin their learning
journey. It aims to give them their first
experience of formal learning. The project
attempts to take education to Out-of-School
children who dwell on the very fringes of
society.

: Unmanifesto

Unmanifesto is a campaign supported by

UNPFA and Community. With super support
from UNPFA and Community youth
collectively launched a campaign that made
youngsters in Jamshedpur sit up and take
notice of politics and governance and through
a lot of fun and learning, they drew up their
dream charter. Through this campaign, the
youths probably for the first time have a tool
to put their demands in front of politicians
and public representatives.
For the very first time, a charter of demands
prepared by the students of MNPS,
Jamshedpur was presented to Mr. Kunal
Sarangi, the dynamic young MLA from
Baharagora and the chief whip of the
opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly. Also,
the students of Gulmohar High School,
Jamshedpur conducted workshop under the
campaign. From education to jobs to
reservations to caste system to transparency
to accountability to youth participation, their
voices came out for the issues that concern
then the most.

Information about the internship
position

As an intern with the organization PEOPLE

FOR CHANGE, I worked in a Social Media
Manager position and was responsible
for the management of social media pages
of the organization. I was part of the social
media management team.
What is social media management?

Social media management is the process

of analyzing social media audiences and
developing a strategy that’s tailored to
them, creating and distributing content
for social media profiles, monitoring
online conversations, collaborating with
influencers, providing community service,
and monitoring, measuring, and reporting
on social media performance and ROI.
All these tasks, which were once
marginalized by businesses, have now
stepped into the limelight of companies’
marketing strategies.
Why? Because social media provides great
money-making opportunities – on the
condition you manage your social
channels in an organized, efficient way.
WHAT DOES SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER
DO?

Social media managers are responsible for

curating a brand’s social channels. They
monitor, moderate and respond to audience
comments; manage social media partnerships
with other brands; and create and/or post
shareable videos and images.
They also strategize and execute digital
marketing campaigns and gather and analyze
the data results from those campaigns. In
addition to working with the design team to
make illustrations and memes for their
accounts, they tracks how much traffic is
driven via social media and notes what
content is performing best so the editorial
team can use those analytics to grow the
site’s audience.
What is LGBTQ+ community?

LGBTQ is an acronym for lesbian, gay,

bisexual, transgender and queer or
questioning. These terms are used to
describe a person’s sexual orientation or
gender identity.
LESBIAN
A woman whose enduring physical,
romantic, and/or emotional attraction is
to other women. Some lesbians may
prefer to identify as gay or as gay women.
GAY
The adjective used to describe people
whose enduring physical, romantic,
and/or emotional attractions are to
people of the same sex. Sometimes
lesbian is the preferred term for women.
BISEXUAL
A person who has the capacity to form
enduring physical, romantic, and/or
emotional attractions to those of the
same gender or to those of another
gender. People may experience this
attraction in differing ways and degrees
over their lifetime. Bisexual people need
not have had specific sexual experiences
to be bisexual; in fact, they need not have
had any sexual experience at all to identify
as bisexual.
TRANSGENDER
An umbrella term for people whose
gender identity and/or gender expression
differs from what is typically associated
with the sex they were assigned at birth.
People under the transgender umbrella
may describe themselves using one or
more of a wide variety of terms—
including transgender. Many transgender
people are prescribed hormones by their
doctors to bring their bodies into
alignment with their gender identity.
Some undergo surgery as well. But not all
transgender people can or will take those
steps, and a transgender identity is not
dependent upon physical appearance or
medical procedures.
QUEER
An adjective used by some people whose
sexual orientation is not exclusively
heterosexual. Typically, for those who
identify as queer, the terms lesbian, gay,
and bisexual are perceived to be too
limiting and/or fraught with cultural
connotations they feel don’t apply to
them. Some people may use queer, or
genderqueer, to describe their gender
identity and/or gender expression. Once
considered a pejorative term, queer has
been reclaimed by some LGBTQ people to
describe themselves; however, it is not a
universally accepted term even within the
LGBTQ community.
QUESTIONING
Sometimes, when the Q is seen at the end
of LGBT, it can also mean questioning. This
term describes someone who is
questioning their sexual orientation or
gender identity.

Conclusion
From my internship with People for
change, I was able to get a better
understanding of how the social media
marketing works and how effective it
is. I enjoyed working with the People
for Change organization to devise and
implement different strategies.
However, I still have a long way to go
in understanding from the
psychological aspects of social media
marketing, and I need to build up my
public speaking skills as well.
Overall, I found the social media
marketing internship experience to be
positive, and I'm sure I will be able to
use the skills I learned in my career
later.
