Book Report

“They both die at the end”

The story introduces us to Mateo, a young man who receives a Sudden Death

call at midnight warning him that in the next 24 hours he is going to die. Rofos

receives the same call the same night as Mateo. They both decide to go to the

"last friend" website to find a like-minded person with whom to spend the last

hours of their lives. After striking up a conversation and having things in common,

they decide to meet in person and be each other's last friend and share the On

the last day of their lives together, Mateo and Rofus will be honest with each

other, they will live experiences that they wanted to have lived at some point in

their lives, and they will say goodbye to their friends and family. An emotional

story that teaches us to take advantage of every minute of our lives. The plot

begins with the warning to Mateo and Rofos that they are going to die in the next

few hours. From the outset, I thought it was a rather surprising start and one that

made me very curious to see how the stage would progress. Throughout the

novel we will accompany the protagonists to live their last 24 hours of life. In these

hours they will go to eat together, to live risky experiences, to visit friends of both,

to be honest with each other and to show themselves as they are. The novel is

read quickly and enjoyable, also, taking into account that it is practically a time

trial, the plot is direct and does not have any type of filler. What I have missed,

and it is the only negative point that I find, is a little more explanation of the end,

since it has tasted little to me. The main protagonists are Mateo and Rufus. Mateo

is a boy who lives alone since his father is in a coma. He has been through a lot

in life and finds in Rufos a sincere friendship and much more in common than
they think. The greatest support for Mateo is his best friend Lidia and his

daughter. Rufos is not lucky to have any relatives either, but his group of friends

"Los Plutos" are his only family and his pillar. Rofos was hitting the ex-boyfriend

of his best friend a few hours before receiving Sudden Death's call. That fight will

have consequences the next day and his friends will pay for their mistake. It has

been beautiful to see how Mateo and Rofos connect so well with each other, and

it's a pity that they met just that day.

With this book I learned to value more the time I have and how I use it, to have

death as a very present concept in my life and with the purpose of valuing it more

than I already do, to know that the important things I have to do them when I can

and not at the last minute because I might regret it. It was great to follow the story

of these two characters and the lesson they left in me. As for the reading, next

time it could be more constant since due to personal problems and duties, I

constantly lost the thread of the story, however I came to understand everything,

that's all I could say about it.
