Covid-19 or Corona Virus disease was first found in the city Wuhan of China in December 2019.

What
started as a virus lead to a serious situation in the whole world causing a global pandemic which is
still ongoing. The world saw it as a serious threat and initially, countries started imposing lockdowns,
and depending upon the situation lockdowns were imposed and lifted. Scientists from different parts
of the world started working on the vaccine for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2
which causes the Coronavirus disease to prevent it from spreading. The common symptoms of this
virus include cough, headache, fever, etc. World Health Organisation (WHO) advised to stay at home
and use masks and sanitizers at all times. Social distancing was also advised by the WHO.

Coronavirus immunization is crucial for shielding ourselves against the infection and stopping the
pandemic. On 11th December 2020, Pfizer & BioNTech were the first companies to get the
authorization of the first vaccine to be distributed on an emergency basis to control the outbreak of
this serious disease. As of now, there are around 10 vaccines such as Covishield, Covaxin, Sputnik V,
etc. that have been tested and circulated the world. But none of the vaccines is 100% effective i.e.
people can still get Covid despite taking these vaccinations. Pharma companies are putting in
millions of money as well as their crucial time to bring out the most influential vaccine as soon as
possible. Immunization just diminishes the shots of getting tainted by the infection and not
decisively ensures that one is protected from the infection.

As of 7th July 2021 so far 404211 deaths have been reported in our country due to this deadly disease
and 361623548 vaccine doses have been given to the people. Also in terms of total (India,
2021)cases, only 1.5% cases are active & 97.18 % have been recovered. (India, 2021). The
vaccination phase started in India in mid-January and our country is putting a lot of effort to curb the
issue by opening more than 3000 centers across the country. First people from the medical
fraternity and health care were given priorities and then vaccines were made available to the
general public with the age of 45 and above. Initially, Covishield & Covaxin were given but now
Sputnik V has also cleared its trials and has been added to the list of available vaccines. The vaccines
are being given free by the Government of India and they are being sold at a price privately too.
From April the vaccines were available for the age group of 18 and above but with such a large
population the vaccines fell short and eventually Government had to stop distribution for this
particular age group.

To get vaccinated an individual has to register on an online portal and book their slots according to
the availability of the vaccines. The gap between the 1 st and 2nd dose 4-6 weeks initially but later on
was increased to 84 days. Scientists have stated the vaccine is more significant and significant when
the gap between the shots has been 84 days or more. Recent reports have also stated that they are
working on the efficacy of the vaccine if taken after a 10-month gap. Not only hospitals in India but
also many companies such as Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd ( PSU) and Larsen & Toubro have been
organizing vaccination drives for their employees and their families.

Being the 2nd most populated country in the world, it is a bottleneck for the government to provide
vaccines to the whole country in such a short period. The government of India has still not been able
to achieve its desired results as the country was not able to procure the raw materials for the
vaccine on time.

Notwithstanding, the best test at the moment exists in the coordination of administering the
immunization to the huge populace, an assignment that is uncommonly hard to achieve. With right
around 30,000 cold storerooms dissipated the nation over, the numbers don't make any sense. To
remove this bottleneck of logistics and supply chain management, The National Cold Chain and
Vaccine Management Resource Centre has been found. . Placed under the National Institute of
Health and Family Welfare, this agency provides technical support for the immunization supply
chain. Managing vaccine stocks at thousands of local inventories and health centers is
enormously challenging. The stakes are above ever during a country that's often suffering
from power cuts and transmission faults. The govt of India and state-owned public sector
organizations are partnering with private companies to hide all eventualities. Customized
refrigerators are being manufactured to satisfy the demand for covid-19 vaccine storage
locally. These fridges can hold temperatures at 2-8°C for several days in the event of an
influence outage. (Dhar, 2021).

When compared to others countries, India has done a good job in vaccination considering the
population.“India is trailing other countries in the percentage of the population that has been
vaccinated against Covid-19. India has fully vaccinated only 1.8% of its 1.38 billion population till
April 2021, while the US has already vaccinated near 30% of its population.” (Kapoor, 2021 )

During such difficult stretches, every one of the nations is doing awesome assistance one
another and make an exit from the pandemic and return to ordinary. It's anything but a
troublesome time for everybody. The nation saw monetary breakdown, absence of emergency
clinic beds, absence of assets to fight Coronavirus. Even after this load of emergencies, the one
thing that never went down was the solidarity among individuals.
