6th Week: NATIONAL SECURITY

National security is effort made by the government of a

country to ensure, secure and guarantee safety of lives and
properties in the state. It involves adequate protection of
citizens, their properties, and keeping them safe from danger and
attack. National security can also be seen as government
protection of citizens from both internal and external attacks.
Roles of citizens in Maintaining National Security.
1. Citizens should be vigilant i.e.; we should be security
conscious at all times.
2. Supplying information to security agencies such as the
Police, EFCC, NDLEA, etc. for them to take adequate actions
before any damage is done.
3. Obedience to rules and regulation of the state make citizens
behave normally and co-exist meaningfully reducing the rate of
crimes in the state.
4. Citizens who are security conscious and experts on security
(Professors) can educate others on the importance of security in
their community.
