Introduction
There are different ways companies or organizations across the world operate and

especially, to come up with the creativity and innovation aspect which they strive to maintain

every day. It is evident in many areas and ways that most organizations have to analyze the best

ways to keep up with their creativity to make sure that they both innovate and invent ways that

enhance their organizations success and relevance to its customers. This however cannot be

possible without the expertise and the help, dedication of its employees. In many cases,

employees employed are to prove a thing or two when their professionalism and creativity

capacity is involved. This essay will therefore look into different literatures and what they

propose in line with employees’ creativity and innovation in organizations as well as the EFQM

and the Deming’s Cycle which are creative and innovation models to complete this essay.

EFQM Excellence Model and how it can improve Creativity and Innovation
There are many ways in which organizations across the world operate and mostly, when

its Board of Directors who are some of the main stakeholders of these organizations are

involved. In this case, being in the position to propose to the board of directors’ ways and

techniques in which levels of innovation and creativity can be improved in my organization is

paramount (Bar & Somech, 2023). Achieving creativity and innovation can be both easy and

difficult and mostly difficult based on the models of creativity and innovation proposed. Going

through different findings from different sources, proposing the EFQM Excellence model and

the Deming’s Cycle brings the need to expound what role they can and will play to achieve,

improve and maintain the creativity and innovation of my organization (Bar & Somech, 2023).

The European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) model is mainly an organizations’

self-assessment creativity and innovation model that looks into the areas an organization should

improve as well as its strengths which are closely measured (Bar & Somech, 2023). Mainly, the
4

EFQM Excellence model looks into what an organization can or could do to improve its service

providence to its customers or service users and stakeholders.

The functions of EFQM Excellence Model

My organization being in the private sector best qualifies for the EFQM Excellence

model since it improves the independence of carrying out its daily operations without fail since it

is a model that is independent. In this case, the model being independent only means that it can

satisfactorily be depended on by both the private and the public sectors (Boamah, et al, 2023).

The EFQM Excellence model mainly looks into the two main frameworks which are Leadership

and it is the main enabler and Process which is based on the results the organization is to get.

Under leadership, people, policy and strategy and partnership’s and resources complete the

enabling stage which then leads to the Process side which mainly focuses on people, customer

and society results (Boamah, et al, 2023). The model can best operate most of the organizational

operations based on the aspect of success-returns to our company. This comes in with it bringing

in different qualities as described above that can develop organizational development of our

organization (Boamah, et al, 2023). Other aspects in line with organizational performance that

are common and established to bring in specific outcomes are the financial, product market and

stakeholder return performances (Boamah, et al, 2023). Being established by the findings that

most organizations made, EFQM as a model helps in securing the organizational performance

with the three outcomes in mind.

EFQM Excellence Model and its enhancers

EFQM Excellence model brings in the three Ps of performance which are process,

product and people which work in line with the financial, product and the stakeholder return

performances. People are seen to play a role in being the service receivers which makes it easier

for the organization to make profits in the cases that they have well mastered their strengths and
5

weaknesses (Mirvis, 2023). This way, they are able to maximize on their strengths for example,

our organization in this instance is a shoe company which happens to be Adidas, maximizing on

advertisements when a new shoe or shoe product is new in the market could be paramount since

it already is an established company (Mirvis, 2023). This way, most people who are the main

stakeholders of the organization will be able to know and purchase the product since the

awareness is already out (Mirvis, 2023). Maximizing on giving discounts when the products are

also new in the market could be another strength to master based on the traffic that it could bring

in to our company since some customers’ will purchase other shoe products they would have

bought somewhere else (Mirvis, 2023). Our main weakness which should be improved is the

competition we experience from other established shoe companies such as Nike.

Knowing how to be more creative and innovative in the way our shoe products are

manufactured and released to the market is paramount. In this case, this is the process that brings

in the organizational performance which needs to be addressed (He, et al, 2023). The process of

being even more unique in the shoes and shoe products we release in the market could be more

possible if employees often brainstorm their ideas, go for training and have excellent team work

(He, et al, 2023). Team work is everything in delivering these products to people who are the

consumers of our product and this therefore means that, all employees in different departments

should cooperate to make it possible (He, et al, 2023). In the case of suppliers of raw material

which is the first stage of the manufacturing process, the organization can come up with creative

and innovative ways such as recycling the already used Adidas shoes to have raw materials

instead of purchasing them always. In this case, bringing up the culture of customers’ depots

where they can “drop” any kind of Adidas shoe product they no longer use for a small fee can be

quite creative since the already used product can be recycled and used to manufacture even better
6

shoe products for the same customers (He, et al, 2023). Looking into the environmental

conservation policies enacted by the government, it is even more important to observe them as a

company which entails a lot of organizational discipline and performance which can replicate to

more conscious operations by the organization.

This therefore comes in mind that, the financial, which is more about the profits and the

stabilization of the organization through the purchases made by our customers will be possible.

In this case, the creative and innovative ways used above will bring in more customer traffic to

our organization which will mean that they will refer other people such as their close ones to

come and purchase our products which will boost the sales and the customer dependable on our

shoe products at all times (Sioutou, et al, 2022). In line with the product market, there will be

stabilization as well based on the products and the processes used to make sure that the shoe

products are sold at reasonable and affordable prices to avoid “scaring” the customer away

(Sioutou, et al, 2022). In this regard, the product market will be global if only the customers

within our area of operation will highly purchase our shoe products and that clearly means that

they will also highly recommend them to other people- even on the internet (Sioutou, et al,

2022). Most product markets will be enhanced by the innovative idea of regularly advertising for

the product as long as it is new in the market which will bring in a certain curiosity to the

audience hence, will try purchasing it and other shoe products our organization is selling

(Sioutou, et al, 2022). Customer satisfaction can also be used to enhance the performance of the

products of sale in the case that we would convince most of them to use a certain hashtag after

they have purchased a certain Adidas product (Sioutou, et al, 2022). This way, most people on

the internet will be aware of what our organization has new in the market, hence, more traffic.

stakeholder return performance on the other hand is more of the investors returns on investments
7

and in this case, our organizations stakeholders are bound to enjoy more returns based on the

innovative and creative ways used to sell most of the shoe products (Sioutou, et al, 2022). This

will also bring in more stakeholders on board who will want to have shares and invest largely on

our organization which will make the organization even more successful (Sioutou, et al, 2022).

In line with the stakeholder return performance, most investors attracted will invest in a big way

which in this case, will be used to increase the manufacturing, production and maintenance of the

organization since already, there is enough resources to carry out all the involved operations to

make the organization more successful.

The Deming’s System and its impact to Organizational Creativity and Innovation
There is no organization that does not have its weaknesses however much successful. It is

not different for our organization which is a Germany-based shoe company that is global based

on the findings that it is the bestselling sportswear company in Europe. It is then ranked as the

second most successful shoe company after Nike which is an American-based company (Azad,

2023). Being in the position of being an employee in the Adidas shoe company makes the

assessment of organizational performance and success even more interesting mostly based on the

challenges that need to be highlighted and overcome by Adidas. Proposing the different creative

and innovative methods and ways to curb the challenges facing our organization is in mind as

increasing its popularity and sales across the world is a priority (He, et al, 2023). In this case,

proposing the Deming’s system which entails the 14 points of profound knowledge will bring in

the understanding needed for our organization to become more successful. The main challenge of

the organization being competition from other sportswear brands such as Nike which is the main

is disturbing and mainly because our shoe features are way better than theirs however, their

marketing strategies could be different and way better than ours which makes this difference

(He, et al, 2023). Using the 14 points of the Deming’s system of profound knowledge will
8

however bring in creative and innovative ways in which our organization can make better and

established success.

The 14 points of Deming’s System

The Deming’s system is an established system that was used to recover the economy of

Japan since it looked into the analysis of the economy then and assessed what needed to be done.

It will not be different in this case whereby; we will go through the 14 points of “excellence”

brought out by Edwards W. Deming who was the founder of the model (Palmore, 2022). The

first point of the Deming’s system expounds on creation of purpose on improvement which

simply means that an organization is to look into long-term plans of the organizations operations

as well as resisting any kind of short-term goals and solutions in the cases of challenges and or

crisis (Palmore, 2022). This comes in mind that, the long-term plans of our company are to

increase sales from the now 8% to 10% per year and that can only be possible if the organization

wants to improve the same. It also comes in mind that achieving such results is avoiding short-

term solutions such as bringing in discounts on our products (Palmore, 2022). It is best to

stabilize on a cost of a shoe product than emphasizing on discounts at all times and especially

when our products are quality (Palmore, 2022). In this case, looking into long-term solutions

such as maintaining certain price range for our customers that is affordable could help in

reducing the expectations of our customers on lower prices on the products they buy from us. In

line with the improvement purpose, doing things different is recommended by the model and

especially when it comes with the variations modified in the products we manufacture and sell to

our customers (Palmore, 2022). It comes in mind that, doing the same thing over time is

monotonous and keep customers away since the products sold are common and nothing escorting

comes from the products our organization could be selling (Palmore, 2022). Preparation and

predictions of the future challenges mostly from our competitors is important to note under this
9

first stage of the Deming’s model (Palmore, 2022). Mostly, the predictions and preparations to

be made are to protect the organization from making major losses in sales and even the brand

name which is to be protected and consistently functional (Palmore, 2022). In this case, getting

better is the main goal of these predictions and preparations of the involved challenges in our

organization.

The second stage being that of adopting new philosophies for the company works best

when quality embracing of the products sold in the organization is involved. It mostly comes in

with the continuation of the process of the quality of the products which leads to enhancement of

the already quality products (Talebi, et al, 2023). In line with this stage, also, there is the

customers need prioritization which is seen to bring in more customers if mastered well.

Leadership is emphasized under this stage as running an organization is not all about

management as a process and profession (Talebi, et al, 2023). Leadership therefore is all about

vision quality and implementation of the same as it propels the organizations sales and brand

name which attracts more stakeholders who would want to serve under the vision created since it

is quality. The third stage on the other hand looks into reductions or prohibition of inspections as

they are expensive and unreliable to any organization under operation (Talebi, et al, 2023). Well,

it could not be different from our organization whereby, this stage emphasizes on quality from

the beginning to the end when manufacturing and providing services for our customers (Talebi,

et al, 2023). Elimination of wrongs is also done under this stage which advices organizations not

to look into what they did wrong only but also, eliminating that which is not working for them.

Statistical methods of control can help our organization in proving that the whole process of

manufacturing and service provision to our customers is working (Talebi, et al, 2023). Any other
10

kind of inspection and especially the physical ones cannot do much when proving the processes

workability.

The fourth stage looks into the supplying system in which the Deming’s system advices

on organizations using single suppliers for every single item used in the manufacturing process

of the Adidas shoes. Consistency is the main goal of one item being supplied by a single supplier

which enhances the quality of the product (Steiner, 2022). It actually comes in mind that, our

company can manufacture way quality shoes for following up this stage and therefore,

competition crisis cannot be felt based on the quality of the shoes being sold to our customers

simply because we have based ourselves on single suppliers for every one item used in the

manufacturing process (Steiner, 2022). The costs analyzation is also carried out under this stage

which mainly look into the costs used for production which lead to the costs of products being

sold. This way, customers will not be over or under charged since the costs analyzation process

has been evaluated already (Steiner, 2022). Standards that are quality are also looked into this

stage whereby, the organization can look into the statistics in line with quality of the products

being supplied. This increases the need for the organization to put suppliers in line with quality

as they are bound to supply quality manufacturing material. The fifth stage focuses on improving

the organization constantly and if possible, forever (Steiner, 2022). The improvement of

processes and systems in our organization can benefit a lot from the long-term relevance of the

shoe products we sell to our customers. Educational programs which entail training of the staff

members can also play a role in constant improvement of the organization as they will apply

what they are learning in the best ways to deliver quality services to our customers (Steiner,

2022). Reduction of waste and improving productivity are also important factors to look into
11

when this stage is concerned. Recycling as a process comes in here whereby, reducing wastage

of already used Adidas products can be maximized.

The sixth stage of the Deming’s system is the use of training on the organizational jobs of

concern such as manufacturing, advertising among others used to make the organization sell its

products successful. In this case, our organization is to benefit from quality customer services

since our staff will be experienced based on the trainings undertaken. The seventh stage looks

into leadership implementation which mainly looks into the relationship employers and

employees have to make our organization even more successful (Xie, et al, 2023). Mutual

respect is to be maintained and especially because all the concerned staff is serving the same

goals (Azad, 2023). This way, the target of the organization is to be the most successful based on

the healthy relationship developed and maintained between employers and employees (Xie, et al,

2023). Elimination of fear is the eighth stage of the model whereby it aims at the interaction

employers, employees and customers have with the products without fear of expression on

concerns or ideas regarding the same (Xie, et al, 2023). The ninth stage looks into breaking down

any kind of barriers that could be experienced between the organizations departments (Xie, et al,

2023). This way, the “internal customer” creation concept is created as the functions of the

concerned departments maximize on the output of the organization. It also comes in with sharing

the vision and building it within the departments which helps the organization even thrive more

(Xie, et al, 2023). The tenth stage looks into getting rid of any unclear organizational slogans that

could not be working for the organization. In this case, the Adidas organization could have the

slogan that they cannot withstand the competition that comes with Nike as its biggest competitor

which is a slogan that should be eliminated for better carrying out of successful operations in our

organization.
12

The eleventh stage looks into elimination of management by the concerned objectives

which are seen to look into how the process is carried out. The targets being on production under

this stage, are meant to encourage and increase output while decreasing low quality. This is

mostly a production level that our organization would also use to provide any kind of support in

line with the resources needed for production while measuring the process instead of individuals

behind the whole process. The twelfth stage looks into removing any kind of barriers that hinder

the pride of workmanship. This clearly brings in the need to allow every employee or stakeholder

to take pride in the work they have contributed to the success of our organization. This way, the

organization will become better in service provision as everyone is being treated the same since

they are all contributing to the success of the organization- whether in a big or small way. The

thirteenth stage is based on the implementation of self-improvement and education of employees

in our organization. This way, people will be encouraged to learn and apply what they have

learnt in the administering of services to our customers because their skills will be improved by

afar hence, better sales. Last but not least is the fourteenth stage which looks into the

transformation process which is made every involved individuals’ job. This way, the overall

operations in the Adidas organization will step forward since each small step has been well-

analyzed and used to effectively manage the 14 points of Deming’s to propel the Adidas

organization to greater heights.
