OVERVIEW:
Vietnam War Veteran Ken Anderberg relates his experience serving on the front lines in the
Ashau Valley, then later serving at Camp Evans near the DMZ during the conflict.
It was at Camp Evans that he created and published the underground magazine - or 'zine' - 'GI
Says' as a response, in part, to the controversial leadership of Col, Weldon Honeycutt at the
recently concluded operations at Hill 937, aka 'Hamburger Hill'.
A $10,000 bounty was reported in the zine, with the target being none other than Col.
Honeycutt himself. Discovery of the printed bounty in G.I. Says by military police nearly led to
Anderberg's long term imprisonment in a federal penitentiary - if not for a miraculous and lucky
intervention!
Of more than 750 antiwar publications published worldwide at the time, 'GI Says' was the only
publication to have been produced and distributed in a Vietnam conflict zone (near the DMZ)
by an active duty person in uniform. Watch this multi-festival selected short documentary on
