Saving lives at birth

The film focused on the high rate of maternal death among indigenous populations in
nations like Guatemala, which is a problem that requires serious discussion and action.
The woman in the video explained that because those people lived in a remote area,
they relied on their traditional midwife attendants to deliver babies instead of going to
hospitals. Although these attendants only learned how to be midwives from their
ancestors and were passed down from generation to generation, this wasn't a big deal
because they knew the fundamentals of what should be done. However, the Doctor in
the video stated that there are some things that they do not really know how to address,
such as complications or risks when a mother gives birth. They are more aware about
this subject than medical health experts like nurses, which, if not addressed, might
result in death during the process. Therefore, if something unforeseen occurs, they
would be able to deal with it and avert the worst case scenario, which is death. The
significance of teaching people about health-related issues was also discussed, exactly
like in the video.

In order to prevent issues or hazards that could injure both the mother and the baby, the
volunteers advised the moms on what they should and shouldn't do while pregnant.
They also urged them to give birth at a nearby medical facility rather than the
conventional approach. It also illustrated the value of everyone's involvement in a
medical facility in order to successfully carry out the right procedure when giving birth to
an expectant woman. Overall, I came to the conclusion that there are some
communities that genuinely need help and education to lower the annual increase in the
death rate, especially in places where the government is secretive or apathetic.
Additionally, it is crucial to convey knowledge about how to deal with stress and
encourage self-care. certain accidents or health-related problems that they might
encounter.
