BEED 1: 3.5.4. The Impact of COVID-19 to the Education Sector

How will Values Education contribute to the attainment of the BEDP?

Values Education helps in disciplining leaners covering all formal educational levels from
Kindergarten, Elementary, Junior High School, Senior High School, and Alternative Learning
System (ALS), even until the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Early Childhood Care
Development (ECCD) and Technical Education and Skill Development Authority (TESDA).
Values Education’s contribution does not limit just within the attainment of Basic
Education Development Program (BEDP). It empowers the learners to acquire life values and
skills along the program and be aware of their roles as a learner, as well as a member of society
during the pandemic. The development of the learner’s values is prioritized. It will enable them
to manage and build their own pillar for themselves that will serve as their foundation and be
able to discover beyond their values. As COVID-19 hit the nation, BEDP became more aware
of what lacks for a learner to gain knowledge during the pandemic. Resulted and aims to
address the impact of COVID-19 to the learners economic and educational sector and how their
adapted values on VED will help them process and overcome the characters they must possess
during the situation.
Values Education may also contribute by giving learners an equity access to VED
programs that will equip them enough knowledge of what is its importance and its significance
to the attainment of BEDP. If a learner was given a right of education, he would meet values
education as a major contributor of upholding knowledge he or she may use in our diverse
society. A learner who met Values Education may result with an upright person who will help
BEPD gain and produce a progressive nation with a progressive citizen.
