better. Please answer your questions when it is your turn. Avoid the temptation of interrupting
your partner when it’s his / her turn.

Teacher’s Guide

Part 1
The aim of this part is to get the students at ease and to activate their speaking skills. Ask each
student 2-3 questions depending on how forthcoming they are.
I’d like to ask you a few questions. Student A, we will start with you and then I will ask student B
some questions. Please do not interrupt your partner when it isn’t your turn to speak.

In this part I am going to show you two pictures. You will have 1 minute to think about and
prepare what you want to say and then I am going to ask you to describe your picture and
speak about the topic that it’s about for about 2 minutes. Student A, I would like you to look at
picture 1. Student B, can you please look at picture 2? You have one minute to prepare.
Right, student A, are you ready to describe your picture and speak about your topic? Student
B, please do not interrupt student A when he / she is speaking.
Thank you. It’s your turn now student B. Student A, please do not interrupt student B when
he / she is speaking.

Part 3

This is the final part of your speaking test. In this part I’d like you to have a conversation of about 4
minutes in which one of you thinks everyone should read newspapers and the other disagrees.
You will be given a card with some prompts that can help you develop your ideas.
Remember to involve your partner in the conversation. You have 1 minute to prepare. Are you
