1.1 MPE Support

Nymphes can now function with a MPE controller. To enable MPE you must enter the MIDI
CHANNEL selection menu:

- MENU—> select 7 and press MENU (you are now in the MIDI channel MENU)

- Press and hold SHIFT for 1+ sec. The LED will lit so as to indicate that you are on the MPE
Mode.

- Press MENU button again to confirm and exit.

To disable MPE, simply follow the same procedure so that the SHIFT button LED turns off.

1.2 Polyphonic Aftertouch support

Polyphonic Aftertouch is now implemented, so that Nymphes can respond to a keyboard/

controller that allows this feature. Please note, that not all targets are polyphonic. That means
some of them will still have a monophonic response.

1.3 List of polyphonic assignable targets

The following targets have a polyphonic response and can be used with MPE or aftertouch for
extensive expression:

OSCILLATOR LFO AMOUNT

OSCILLATOR EG AMOUNT

OSCILLATOR GLIDE

FILTER CUTOFF

FILTER EG AMOUNT

FILTER TRACKING

FILTER LFO AMOUNT

ENVELOPE 1+2 ATTACK

ENVELOPE 1+2 DECAY

ENVELOPE 1+2 SUSTAIN

ENVELOPE 1+2 RELEASE

LFO1 RATE

LFO1 WAVE

LFO1 DELAY

LFO1 FADE

1.4 Preset Import / Export support

Nymphes synthesizer supports Import / Export for its presets in sysex format.

By default, Nymphes will send a sysex of the current preset when loading it, so that the user can
record it. In addition, there is a sysex Dump function which can be accessed through the MENU.
The user can choose to either Dump the current preset or do a full Sysex Dump of the presets
and banks (including the factory ones).

To access this: Press

MENU —> select 7 and press SHIFT + MENU. The MENU button LED will start flashing so as to
indicate that you have entered the Global MENU.

Selection 7 is the Sysex Dump.

With the Wave slider you select [Current preset 0-50% / All presets 51-100%]

The save button will remain lit if you are at the current preset and will flash if you are on All
presets.

To confirm and start the dumping process, press the SAVE button once. When the procedure is
finished, the SAVE button’s LED will turn off. Move again the slider to repeat or press MENU
button to exit.

To dump a sysex file you will need a software program that can record sysex messages. For
example, Sysex Librarian (for Mac users) or BOME send SX (for Windows).

After the sysex message is recorded , it will have the following format:

F0 00 21 35 00 06 FF AA BB PP............F7

Where:

- F0 00 21 35 00 06 FF AA BB PP…..F7 is the sysex start message.

- F0 00 21 35 00 06 FF AA BB PP…..F7 is the manufacturer ID specific for Nymphes.

- F0 00 21 35 00 06 FF AA BB PP…..F7 indicates a write enable Flag:

Set 00 to force load the preset, without saving.

Or, 01 to write the preset in memory.

- F0 00 21 35 00 06 FF AA BB PP…..F7 indicates the PAGE:

00 for USER presets.

01 for FACTORY presets.

- F0 00 21 35 00 06 FF AA BB PP…..F7 indicates BANK.

01 to 07 equals BANK A to G.

- F0 00 21 35 00 06 FF AA BB PP…..F7 indicates Preset number.

01 to 07 equals Preset 1 to 7.

- The rest sysex numbers are preset specifics following Google

Protobuf format. *

- F0 00 21 35 00 06 FF AA BB PP…..F7 is the sysex end message.

For example, the factory preset B3 that is forced to be saved as a preset in the synth is

F0 00 21 35 00 06 01 01 02 03............F7

When selecting a full sysex Dump, Nymphes firstly will transmit all USER presets and then the
FACTORY ones. As a conclusion, all presets will be transmitted in the order of A1 to G7.

*For the full Protobuf format or further questions please contact orfeas@dreadbox-fx.com

1.5 Factory presets can be replaced

With the above info mentioned, it is now clear that the Factory presets can be replaced through a
sysex import and can be saved to the external flash memory of the unit. Still, they cannot be
replaced by any other means and we strongly suggest that you import there your “core” presets.

1.6 MIDI Channel Learn

Nymphes can now be set to any MIDI channel (except of 1 to 7) with the use of MIDI learn. To do
so, navigate to MIDI Channel by pressing the MENU button once and select 7 with the rotary
switch. Press MENU button once again and the MENU button LED will start flashing to indicate
that you are in the MIDI Channel MENU. While in that MENU, the unit is in a MIDI Learn and OMNI
mode. Send any MIDI message and press MENU to select the last transmitted channel or move
the rotary to select from channel 1 to 7.

For example, to select the Channel 10 from a keyboard:

Press MENU—>select 7—> MENU (now you are in an OMNI mode).

Setup on your keyboard channel 10. Then press any key.

Press MENU. Now, since the last played MIDI channel was 10, Nymphes is set to respond to that
channel.

1.7 Scaled Input Mode added

A Scaled (Relative) Mode for the sliders is now added for easier control handling. This setting
allows changing the slider, based on the current value of the parameter, rather than jumping to the
current position of the slider. This can be selected in the already existing MENU on the global
settings, as the last choice: MENU—>7 (SHIFT+MENU)—> 3 (wave slider selects:) JUMP/CATCH/
SCALED

2.1 SHIFT button behaviour changed

SHIFT button is now changed to single click SHIFT LOCK, instead of double click. Momentary
hold of SHIFT button is still supported.

2.2 CC transmit on Preset Load

Nymphes will transmit and update the new CCs values on preset LOAD if CC out is enabled. This
way the user can use or create a CC editor that can receive CCs, get informed about the exact
values of the current preset and even adjust them by sending CC back to Nymphes. The same
can be achieved through sysex, but the user will need to handle and decode the sysex messages
with the Protobuf format.

2.3 CC list reworked

The CC list changed, so it can match to the MIDI protocol. Mod Wheel and Cutoff became
polyphonic so as to add further control for MPE.

Please check the updated list on the new Manual firmware v2 (paragraph 8 “CC list).

2.4 All Notes Off and All Sounds off CCs added

CC 120 and 123 got implemented in order to handle the above.

2.5 Reverb control added to Modulation matrix through CC

Reverb controls are added on all modulation targets, which can be accessed only through CCs.

Please check the updated list on the new Manual firmware v2 (paragraph 8 “CC list).

2.6 Modulation target: Mod Wheel on PW changed

Mod Wheel can now be used for controlling the LFO amount on Pulse Width, rather than just
controlling its initial value. This was added to achieve the classic PWM sound on the Square
Wave.

2.7 Shortcut for Global settings reset

In case you made a mistake in the global settings, or you are unsure of what is happening , you
may now reset everything to the default value.

A shortcut was added on power up for this. In order to access it, the user should press and hold
SHIFT + MENU on startup for 4 seconds. When enabled, MIDI channel is set to OMNI and all
settings to the below (Factory) ones:

- Pitch wheel : +/-3 semitones

- Finetune : default (A at 440hz)

- Sliders control: Jump

- Load preview: ON

- CC : In = OFF, out=OFF

- Midi channel=OMNI/Mp=OFF

3.1 VCA Envelopes scratching elements fixed

Nymphes envelopes architecture changed to overcome a popping/scratching sound on the

envelopes when it is set to the fastest rates.

3.2 Voice Mode changing hanging notes

There was a bug that caused hanging notes on Voice Mode change.
