Assignment: Research on criticisms against SMART objectives. Reconcile this criticism

with the benefits derived from writing SMART objectives

Using SMART Objectives, per some teachers, may be discouraging if they are not
followed through on. This would add unneeded stress and pressure, which might lead to failure
to fulfill the objectives' aims. This will also result in a sense of dissatisfaction or failure, which
will limit the teacher's creativity in other areas. Smart objectives, for example, must be specific
and measurable so that a teacher may objectively assess whether the objectives have been
fulfilled. If this is applied to assess the success or failure of utilizing SMART objectives, it can
demotivate the teacher, especially if the teacher is unable to recognize what he or she has done in
fulfilling the objectives.

On the other hand, while there are some criticisms of the usage of SMART objectives,
teachers genuinely benefit from them since it offers and aids in the creation of objectives that
meet the learning competencies. It allows the teacher to focus on one objective at a time and
saves time on non-goal-oriented activities. It also provides a sense of accomplishment, especially
if the objectives are accomplished, as a teacher watches the progress of the students. It also
encourages since it assesses the teacher's strengths and weaknesses.
