GUIDELINES FOR PREPARATION OF CASE STUDY PAPER (DISSERTATION)
MBA students in Fourth Semester are required to carry out a study on any real
corporate problem of an Indian Company/Companies and prepare a case study paper
on the same as part of their Dissertation.
Selection of Case: -
Select a case topic relevant to theory and practice of management. Student has
choice of selecting the problem(s) for the case study of an Indian company. The
topic of case study should be in line with specialization area. Student has to ensure
that the case selected for detailed study is about real corporate situation, problem
or conflict area. If necessary, the name of the organization, product name(s), brands
and trademarks may be masked to maintain confidentiality.
Adequate free time is provided to the students to carry out in depth study of the
selected case. Data and information is to be collected through personal / E-mail
interactions, desk research and so on. The outcome of the detailed work done is
reflected in the case study paper. Case study paper in structured format is to be
submitted to the institute after due deligence with faculty mentor/Research guide
in soft copy and two hard copies by the 15-March-2023.
The evaluation of dissertation will be for a total of 200 marks.100 marks for the
presentation which will be evaluated by eminent industry panelist online starting
from 20-March-2023 the parameters for evaluating the presentation is as under

The Case Study Report would be evaluated for 100 Marks, parameters for evaluating
the report would be as under
1. Title Page:
The title page will contain the title of the case study, Name of the student, student
ID, Institute Name and Submission Date. Keep the title short. Focus on highlighting
the most compelling accomplishment. Example: Design Thinking and Innovation at
Apple
2. Declaration:-
a) This case study paper has been entirely prepared by me and does not
involve plagiarism.
b) It is my own work and has not already been published or submitted
elsewhere.
c) Signature from the Guide / Mentor after the completion of the Plagiarism
Test (Allowance of 30% is Accepted).
3. Table of Contents:
The table of content will have details of section and page numbers.
4. Executive Summary/Abstract:
This section presents a synopsis of the case on hand. This allows readers to get a
quick understanding of the case. Executive summary is limited to 250-300 words.

5. Introduction/Overview:
6. Main Content:
In this section student will present details about the organization, details about the
case scenario, the industry vertical, relevant historical background for the case,
past and present business performance, technical or theoretical issues and concerns,
conflicts and issues. There are separate sections to present problems and decision
alternatives. If needed and is relevant to your area of study, include a section that
describes about the competitors and their strategies. At times, individuals’ quotes
or statements are included as to what was done to mitigate the problem.
7. Analysis:
In this section student presents methods deployed for analysis and results of the
analysis that was carried out during preparation of the case study. An Annexure ‘A’
is attached to give you a sample of methods / models of analysis, it is cross
specialization / Department and student can use two or more of the same.
The status section focuses on presenting the present status with few questions and
problems associated with the case. This section often defines one or more problems
that need to be resolved and the constraints to be considered.
For example, student will describe a problem and ask the question “what next?”
Problem statement can lead to recommending a solution or prepare a report. The
student in this section can also ask “what went wrong?” and how it could have been
avoided.
9. Case Solution:
In this section, the student presents decision alternatives and rationale of selecting
the “best fit” solution considering the operational constraints. This section does not
include the final solution.

10. Annexures, Visuals or Quotes:
Additional relevant material, volumes of data and information are typically presented
as annexures. Annexures include exhibits, tables, graphs, image etc. student must
duly acknowledge source of all exhibits and annexures. If possible, pick one or two
powerful quotes that you would feature at the bottom of the sections above, as well
as a visual that supports the story you are telling. If student has prepared the
annexure by collating information from various sources, the source is to be
mentioned as self-compiled.
11. Acknowledgment:
If someone provided assistance with the preparation of the case study, thank them
briefly.
12. References:
The Case study paper is to be submitted on A4 size format with 1.5 inch margin on
left hand and 1 inch margin on other three sides. The text should be in Times New
Roman 12 points with heading in 16 pt. Line spacing should be 1.5. The size of case
should be 10-15 pages excluding annexure, title page and table of contents
reference. Give References serial numbers and give details in footnotes.
Periodicals: The author/s name, year of publication, title of the article, journal
name, volume and number, and the page numbers
