In an essay format, merging all your learnings from tonight and the previous
classes, how are you going to practice your social (1), ethical (2), and professional (3)
responsibilities as a future architect of the Philippines?

As a future architect of the Philippines, I am going to practice my social

responsibility by always designing structures and spaces as community friendly and
promotes social interaction within and outside the space. Designing structures or spaces
that promote conservation of energy and minimize environmental impacts are also one of
the practices that I will be sure to be strict of. A good example of a project that is socially
responsible is a mixed-use establishment that promotes social interaction while
generating income for the economy, as well as giving the community a space where lush
greenery can be seen even in the middle of an urban district.
To be ethically responsible, as a future architect, I must be firm on complying to
the numerous national codes, laws, rules and regulations that must be applied on every
project that I will have. National codes such as the P.D. 1096 or the National Building
Code of the Philippines, Fire Code, Accessibility Law, and the Green Building Code of the
Philippines are only few of the national codes and laws that an architect must keep in
mind when designing a project.
As a future architect, as early as now, I must know that there are certain limitations
to my knowledge and skills which is perfectly fine to be professionally responsible. Other
professions are not made just to be laughed at or be ignored, they have their own set of
skills and knowledge which other professions would not have. As a future architect, I
should only be allowed to work on and create architectural documents, and not be able
to work on or create any other documents unnecessary for architects, aside from
documents that are general in nature.
