CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION

1.1 Introduction
Myanmar is a developing country and which has many of the natural resources such
as Oil and Gas sector, Coal, Water sources and many of Gems as well as other materials.
Myanmar's economic is low and try to improve to get good situation rank with myanma oil
and gas in ASEAN region. Myanmar produces the natural and petroleum in Asia and it is
one of the world's oldest petroleum industries and crude oil were exported to another
countries since 1853. In Asia Continent, Myanmar is one of the major natural gas producers.
But, Myanmar cannot produce oil and gas its own because it does not have sufficient
investment, good governance politices, technical capacity and good management. Today,
most of the countries are necessary energy like that oil and gas in the world. Oil and Gas are
used in factories, generator, many of truck car, hydropower, etc. Nowadays, Myanmar is
facing the lack of electricity energy and it cannot distribute the electricity enough inside the
whole nation. So that our government is implementing the Gas Turbine Plants by using the
natural gas in which oil and gas sector is very important and essential for my country.

1.2 Aim and Objectives

The aim of this term paper is to study the importance of oil and gas sector in
Myanmar. The economy of Myanmar oil and gas are very essential and try to promote this
sector to grow Myanmar's economic. This paper is to know about the importance of oil and
gas for a country in every sector, to know about the importance of foreign direct investment
(FDI), to know clearly oil and gas import and export sector, to understand Myanmar's
economic situation. The objective of this thesis is to study the economy of Myanmar oil and
gas sector.

1.3 Scope of the Term Paper

This term paper is to study the importance of oil and gas sector in Myanmar. Major
parts of this term paper are studying domestic and export, business industries, contract and
economy of oil and gas sector in Myanmar.

1.4 Outline of the Term Paper
This term is composed of five chapters. The chapter one is the introduction of the
term paper. Chapter two is describing general concepts on oil and gas sector in Myanmar.
Chapter three contains the study of economic effect in Myanmar. Suggestion and
performance are included in chapter four. Chapter five describes discussion and conclusion of
the paper and also gives recommendation of the paper.
