１．イＡ／ナＡ -そうです／-そうな‫ؙ‬Ｎ

●‫ؙ‬Basic sentence
その おすし、おいしそうですね。
Sono osushi, oishisoo desu ne.
That sushi looks delicious, doesn't it?

それ、べんりそうな ナイフですね。
Sore, benrisoona naifu desu ne.
That looks like a useful knife, doesn't it?

Used when saying what you think about something from the outside.

① ৕どもたちが あそんでいます。楽しそうです。
Kodomotachi ga asonde imasu. Tanoshisoo desu.
The children are playing. They look fun.

② あの যは ひまそうです。
Ano hito wa himasoo desu.
That person looks bored.

③ あの ねこ、きもちが よさそうですね。
Ano neko, kimochi ga yosasoo desu ne.
That cat looks like it feels good.

④ わぁ、あまそうな いちごですね。঳つ、いただきます。
Waa, amasoona ichigo desu ne. Hitotsu, itadakimasu.
Wow, that looks like a very sweet strawberry. I will have one.

●‫ؙ‬Commentary
A. イA can be made by taking out "いです" from "イA-いです" as in "あつい
です →あつ". ナA can be made by taking out "です" from "ナAです", as in
「べんりです →べんり」.

B. Take note that the adjective 「いいです」 becomes 「よさそうです」.（③）

C. When nouns or verbs are modified, 「そうです」 becomes 「そうなＮ」.

●‫ؙ‬Basic sentence
あたたかくて、おいしいです。／からくなくて、おいしいです。
Atatakakute, oishii desu. / Karakunakute, oishii desu.
It's warm, so it's delicious. / It's not spicy, so it's delicious.

しんせんで、おいしいです。／にがてじゃなくて、よかったです。
Shinsende, oishii desu. / Nigatejanakute, yokatta desu.
It's fresh, so it's delicious. / They like it, so it was good.

Used when talking about the reason or cause.

Kono juusu wa tsumetakunakute, oishikunai desu.
This juice is not cold, so it's not delicious.

Kono kooen wa shizukade, kimochi ga ii desu.
This park is quiet, so it feels good.

④ 友だちが あまいものが にがてじゃなくて、よかったです。

Tomodachi ga amai mono ga nigatejanakute, yokatta desu.
My friend likes sweets, so it was good.
